I'm gearing up for MV and other trips before and after, and need ya'lls recommendations on covers to put on the bike at night...this has probably been discussed at length previously.  The cover is particularly important at the beach, where the funk seems to get all over everything no matter what you do, but at least it would help some.

Here is what I feel is an absolute necessity: Small packed size; waterproof but breatheable; quick drying; easy to put on/take off; accomodates in some way the shorty attenae on my tourpak; won't scratch anything on the bike!!

Your opinions are valued and much appreciated.  Help me spend money on the bike...it's been almost 4 hours since I did so.... :o

Terry, until a year or so ago I'd never travelled with a cover as part of the things-to-schlep.  Then after reading some of the tips (read: Fired00d) here I got one from this place:

http://www.exigentbikecovers.com/

It was moderately priced compared to lots of other choices.  It's worked very well in some very inclement weather and it folds very very small.  Liked the product well enough I called back and got their seat-only cover as well that's made to work with two backrests for when the tour pak is off the bike.  That little cover was only like $22.00.

You know I have questions...Dood...I see from your photo that you have one of the shorty antenna's on your bike...how does the cover do with the shorty?  I have two of the Freedom Cycle rubber antennae on mine, and they are not something you can just take on and off easily...I don't guess it would hurt anything for them to bend forward a bit...thoughts/opinions?

Unfortunately I didn't find out about Exigent before I had already bought the MoCo cover that has the slit in it for your antenna’s to slide through. Therefore I can't comment on how this will work w/the rubber duck antennas. I did not plan far enough ahead like you are doing now before I figured I was going to need one for a trip. Had to end up going to dealer before departure and get a cover. :(

I was told about this company just prior to leaving on my trip, but not in enough time to get one ordered and delivered. I did see a demo of them while in Sturgis, and had several friends that have them and highly recommend them.

These covers don't have holds in them if I remember correctly they actually supply a piece of velcro I believe where you could bend the whip antennas down and hold them to handlebars. You then put the cover over top bike. As you stated you could bend them down some then bend them back when you took the cover off. I'm surprised that yours are hard to get off. I have the Freedom one and it's on hand tight and is easy to take on and off if needed.

Well Dood...my DA put a little dab of blue Loctite on the threads before installing them, but I can undo that easily and just take them off when I use the cover...I was just concerned about the CB side not being good and tight because of reception....just being A/R, you know.  They are flexible though, so it might not hurt anything to bend them over...I guess they would bend back and not look like a limp Pe@!er on the back of my scoot    ;D ;D

I use a cover from these folks it stores in a space smaller than a pack of smokes.
