110 T-Man build SESG2 / Dood's fault
« on: March 23, 2012, 11:44:15 AM »

The engine bug got me again. Dood's voodoo at work. After leaving Vanessa’s motor stock for two riding seasons I got to thinking…. “since I have these T-Man diamond cut heads, TR-625 cams, SE cam plate and various other items just sitting on a shelf maybe I could…..”

I sent the heads to Dave Mackie to be inspected and refreshed based on recommendations from several on this board. I agree Dave is a great guy. I asked Dave for a recommendation on a builder in Illinois: Bob Taft @ Rat’s Whole Place in Decatur, Il

Bob had me order some custom cut pistons from Axtell to match the 10* angle cut in the heads. Ron Dickey at Axtell had me send him the heads so the match would be as close as possible. Once again, Ron was easy to work with and extremely knowledgeable.

Build specs:
-TR 625 cam
-T-Man Stage 3 heads   prepped by DME
o   1.940 intake, 1.610 exhaust
o   89.5cc combustion chamber o   Manual compression releases o   Diamond cut
•
-Cylinders to be diamond cut to match heads[/size]
-Axtell custom cut 10* Dish Piston Kit
-Billet Cam Support Plate w/ bronze bushings
-SE Oil Pump 62400001
-Torrington B-148 bearings
-SE Tapered Adjustable Pushrods 18404-08
-BMO Velva Touch Lifters
-S&S Roller Rockers
-HPI FBW 55mm Throttle Body-58mm manifold / HPI 5.3gps Injectors

After she was put together and Bob put in a tune, I rode her several hundred miles. I contacted Jim (StrokerJLK) for a final tune and dropped the scoot off to him. Jim contacted me while I was out of town with some great results.

Stock motor with X pipe, 2.0 baffles, TTS – 95 hp / 108 tq
T- Man build tuned by StrokerJLK            - 120 hp /126 tq

Hope to pick her up soon and get some seat time and smiles going.

You certainly lasted longer than I am going to...my bike has less than a hundred miles on it, and it's getting trailered down to T-Mann next month.   I know I should just wait until winter, but I just can't.   :nixweiss:  Great numbers on your Dyno have fun with her!

Just couldn't stand having a set of T-Man heads gathering dust on a shelf. Picked up the cams used. Had a variety of other parts on hand. So the cost for the build was manageable.

Very nice results...

T-Man and DME does'nt get any better than that. The Dyno sheet looks awsome. Sure it is a pleasing ride!

Which HPI Inc intake did you use?

Hope the bottom end hangs in there.

Hey Brad

TR can be a little harder to talk with on the phone sometimes but both know their stuff. Dave could not be easier to deal with.

I got the HPI TBW 55mm to 58mm manifold. Of course HPI has now released a 58mm for the Throttle by Wire bikes. However, I do not think she's hurting for more air.

As for the bottom end, I'm with you. If the day comes that needs addressed, I shall do so. I don't jump on her from standing still nor do burn outs or wheelies. I usually spin her up somewhere high enough in the rpm range that I hope I'm not stress her too much.  :nixweiss: Time will tell.

Stay safe, hope to see you this year at a GTG.

You will enjoy this a lot more than stock. T-Mann did stage 4 on my 110 and I used 12.1 pistons and 662-2 cams. It kills 120 r of my riding fried.  :pepper:

My friend put stock out of box 120r in his 2011 street glide. It made 117hp 126tq with D&D Boarzilla. My 2011 CVO Black and Crimson has stock bore and stroke. I changed pistons to 12 to 1 and put 58 mm hpi intake. Used 662-2 cams and T-Mann stage 4 heads with D&D Fatcat. I made my own air cleaner assembly due to the stock restricting it. The ccp is 220 and I'm at 780 feet above sea level. Using same Dyno for both bikes mine made 134 hp 125 tq. I have seen on the sites people giving big hp numbers for the 120r. My friend is pissed of at the Dyno results of his 120. We raced them and it's not even close. I hope this info helps someone thinking of getting 120r.

was the 120r more expensive of the two?

can you both run the same pump gas?
