Custom Corbin Seats
« on: March 27, 2012, 03:39:40 PM »

Getting a custom corbin seat for the 09 SERG O/B. Wondering if anyone has an pics of a seat for the orange and black SERG? Was thinking about black leather with orange stiching maybe some grey in the side to match the strip in the bike. Would like to see some pics similar to this. Thanks

That seat that Van just had made for his SESG would look really nice on your bike.  It's actually two different colors of thread in the flame stitch pattern.  Of course you'd have to pick some other thread colors.   They have a pretty big selection of colors if you go in person and I know somebody that may just help you with that Lewis. ;)
Or.....................you could make another trip out here.......on your bike this time! :2vrolijk_21:

Thanks JC I saw that when I researched custom seats. I guess my only question is Van's bike is a little different color than mine. It is a very cool color in the seat!

Right, Van's is a different color of orange from yours.....so you'd not want the "reddish" orange.  But I think that "orange" that he used could be one of your two colors (and I think you could go three colors if you wanted to.....can't think of a reason they couldn't).

Your challenge would be for somebody to get down there and get in their thread locker and get a foot long sample of each of their shades of orange, for you.  If you weren't in a big hurry to make a decision on this, I'd be willing to stop by there when we go down to the V6 Ranch on May 5th.  If one of the other Nor Cal members is headed that way before then, maybe they'll chime in here.

Here are some pictures of Jon's (Jonga), when he got it done......  http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=40248.msg642448#msg642448

That seat looks awesome. I was wondering about some of you guys who have color stitching in the seat? Is the color holding up or becoming dirty? Do you clean it with something special to keep the stitching clean? Reason I ask is Corbin reccommended againest color stitching in the seat stating it would become dirty and stained from sitting on it. They basically talked me out of doing what I wanted which was orange stitching like the above picture?  HMMMM?

You know Face I heard the same thing, not sure I'm going to worry about. More concerned with the colors to stitch with. I ment to tell you I noticed a drop in power when I took the 2" fullsac baffles off and put the boom cans on.
So what are you going to do about the seat??

Hey Face.  Yea, the blue thread on my seat turned blue from my levis. :P

It's supposed to be colorfast nylon but I'd say it would fade over time.....depending on how much it's sitting in the sun, the color of the threads, etc.  I mean leather (any color) will fade over time.  For anybody that's going to do something like this, I'd follow Van's lead and do it a shade or two brighter than you might be inclined to, for that reason.

Big Lew.....just occured to me that if you used the same colors that Van used but switch them.  Put the "orange" on the outside and the "reddish orange" on the inside.  That way the orange would be the dominent color. :nixweiss:

Sounds like a good idea. I'll go back a look at the pic.

I purchased a plain black Corbin dual tour seat. I love the seat but would have liked it to have some color. As I stated Corbin talked me out of it. My boom cans are gone very soon! Waiting on a Dragula 2-1 with a ghost pipe in all black!

Good for Corbin.  Can't imagine bright saddles that make a statement along with the bike.  Way too gaudy.  It's important to keep things understated and subtle.
