2006 FLHTCUSE Tourpak/Stereo help needed.
« on: March 27, 2012, 07:07:10 PM »

I  know that this is an older bike, but I have never wanted to make the tourpak removable until now. Has anyone added an under the fairing amp eliminating the Harmon Kardon stock amp under the tourpak? I went to the HD dealership, and was told that I would have to give up my XM radio with their under the fairing amp. Someone has had to have previously done this. I am not opposed to aftermarket products, just like things that plug in to original wiring. HELP in Dallas.

Thanks!

Lots of folks have done this....PM hd-dude (Jim...he owns Metal Dragon out in CA) and he can steer you in the right/best direction, with a small discount for the parts.  Main thing is that you can 100% trust what he tells you.  :2vrolijk_21:

Contact Scott Ezzell: ezzell141@comcast.net.  He has a great bracket that will allow you to mount the XM and CB modules below the radio.  I have one of the first ones, and it works great.  It will solve the fitment issue of using the HD in-fairing amplifier.

I'm sure your dealer will need to do some relatively simple rewiring of the existing audio harness to adjust to the amp's new location; but, sounds like a worthwhile undertaking given your desire to retain an HD amp.

Good luck with your project.

Thanks Carl, this is the information I was needing. The punk at the dealership said that I would have to give up my XM radio to mount an amp under the fairing.

Glad to help.  As for the "punk," I wouldn't be hard on the guy/gal since the ones I've encountered are essentially prisoners of the HD fitment information in the P&A catalog, and Scott's bracket is not a highly publicized piece.  Heck, he's only had them available for a couple of weeks.

Good luck with your project.
