Molex Connectors
« on: March 28, 2012, 01:28:46 PM »

Trying to hook up my tourpak I recently purchased from a member here on the site. So it has a molex connector already wired onto it so would like to keep that so it will hook up to the wiring harness. So I guess my question is where is the best place to get ahold of preferebly two male and one female connectors with pins so I can make up my own "Y" connector  (need the 8 place connectors) Harley dealers around here dont stock them. So if I have to order I thought maybe someone else has done this and could steer me in the right direction.............Thanks..Grandpa  ;D

My dealer has to order them as well but he usually gets them to me in less than 4 days. Maybe a car dealer can help identify them and you could get them out of a wreck if in a big hurry.

Did you try ordering from Molex?

You could also try Radio Shack. Good luck.

No matter the source you find for the housings and terminals don't forget you'll need a crimping tool unless there's already one in the tool box.  Those are a nearly impossible crimp to make cleanly without the correct tool.

Here you go.

https://www.denniskirk.com/search/molex+connector.q

I agree with the previous post about crimpers.  Find the right one, or spend time with the wrong tool trying to get the pins to fit into the connector.

Dennis Kirk also has the pins (male/female).  Get extra's cause you'll need some.  ;)

Oh, and practice with your crimpers before you cut the wires to length.  They can always be shortened.

Thanks for the info fellas. Talked to couple distributers up this way and was directed to digikey.com. Got 3 connectors and 50 pins (always nice to have extras  :2vrolijk_21: ) All for right at $20, plus shipping of course. Looked pretty close to prices at dennis kirk. Also I dont have the crimp tool but have friends that do. Thanks again for the input.......Grandpa
