Roadtech Zumo 660 voice prompts
« on: April 02, 2012, 07:55:22 PM »

am starting a new thread for a few more questions??

ok, everything mounted, wired up and working BUT I am not getting voice prompts thru my HK radio like I thought it should. I have tried to find threads on this and I am getting confusing answers from dealer people and even on here and other froums.

I have the 'audio out' plugged into the front of my HK with the cord #92389-08 that came with my Zumo but no voice prompts, I was told I need to buy the HD NIM module for this to work, others have said IF the radio is in AUX mode it will work. My dealer service mgr didn't know for sure, he thought there was a cd from Garmin to insert into the cd player to make the radio program to the 'aux' mode.

I don't want it to interrupt my radio/cd player music with the voice prompts, I just want the voice prompts when I have the radio in 'aux' mode, and how do I get that 'aux' mode to show up on my radio?? when I added the HD XM radio they had to do something to the radio so the XM source showed up on the screen.

Can you help?

With the GPS unit's output cable in the aux port in the front of the radio any audio coming from the GPS unit should play over the bike's speakers.  But only if the radio is in "aux" mode.  If you've got the radio set to listen to FM or CD you won't hear the aux functions.  There is no override from the aux port over the CD player or other radio functions.

I gave the answer on another forum but here it is again. If your radio is in the AUX input mode and you have the GPS Audio Output routed to the Auxiliary Input on the front of the radio and you have all 3 volume setting on the GPS tured to 100% and you have at least 3 bars showing on the Volume setting for the AUX mode then you should be able to hear the turn prompts. Regarless of weather or not you have a NIM installed.

You can call me if you like and we will figure out what the problem is.

I am 1 hr later.

The AUX mode will show up when you plug a 3.5mm Stereo Male plug into the Auxiliary Input Port on the front of the radio. You will not see "AUX" until then.

Now that is what I needed to read. Resolves my issue with AUX input. Then again I suppose if I had taken the manual to bed and read it Im sure it would be detailed (or would it )  :jalapeno: :jalapeno:
