Blue Ridge Parkway
« on: July 22, 2006, 08:24:25 PM »

I just returned from a round trip of the Blue Ridge Parkway .  It is truely one of the great motorcycle roads in America.  The North Carolina end is more twisty and has a high of over 6000 ft.  The Virginia end is very laid back . I met lots of wonderful folks along the road, even though it is the middle of the summer there was very little traffic.  I plan on making this an annual trip . There are overlooks every few miles and the scenery is great.

Nice pics. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] You are right the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive are both excellent scenic sites to ride. How far north did you come on the Blue Ridge?

You're absolutely right about that. For us east of the Rockies I just don't think it get's any better for a nice relaxed no traffic trip. Was it opened up all the way? My last try sections where still closed because of slides.

I started out from home just north of Atlanta , rode up to Cherokee NC, at the southern end and rode all the way to the north end in Virginia. Visited Shenendoah HD , a very nice dealer. Then rode back the North to South end. 1307 miles round trip.

The only thing I'd change is , next time do it on a Bagger!

Wow, you were only a few miles from me, and you visited my dealer. Wish I would have known we could've done a meet and great there.

Thanks TBone .. I'm looking at an 07 Street Glide for next years ride , (keeping the WG3)  and I'll post before the trip so we can either get a posse up or at least meet up.

Nidan,

Like you, I would love to make this an annual ride.  For those of us on the Southeastern part of the US, it's hard to beat.
