Do it yourself?!?! OMG, what a novel concept.  Most of the people here mechanical skills are limited to signing their name.  The more you do yourself the better you will know your bike.

Not much time to spare before my trip.

"cause I got the time (and because my local dealer has shown that they cannot be trusted) I'm putting Heat Demons on both bikes, brakes on the back of mine, changing brake fluid on all, adjusting both clutches, Progressives in the front of mine, GPS interface, all fluids (dealer said the 300 (dry)km old RedLine Heavy had water in it so they put in Sin3)....and everything that the dealer touched at the 80,000km service.

The dealer wanted 3 1/2 hrs (They said so high because they had to fish the wires)  to put the Heat Demons on the Sporty. It took me just under 3 while watching a bit of golf on TV.

Just be very careful when pulling the HD looms through that you don't upset the Heat Demons wiring. I ended up ripping two leads off the heat grids. They are very fragile and break off right where the solder ends. Not a biggie to re solder, but you have to take everything back out again and start over.

Thanks for the tip...extra caution was taken on the Sporty......and will be on mine as well!
