is upgrading to SE plugs worth the money...you think any better performance out of them....and while asking...how about the SE plug wires...thx

I've had more issues with SE plugs. I had the insulator brake on 2 different bikes. I only use NGK now with no issues. I have used SE wires on multple bikes no issues.

How do you define "better performance"?  If you mean higher power output when compared to a fresh standard plug, the answer is definitely NO for both items.  If you mean will performance degrade more slowly over time with platinum plugs, then the answer is a qualified "probably".  The only advantage of the SE platinum plugs, other than to Harley's bottom line, is longer life.  If you change plugs every 5k or 10k miles like most Harley riders, they are a waste of money.  If you're the type to just run the plugs until the engine starts missing, then yes the platinum ones will maintain acceptable performance longer.

As for the wires, once again they won't add any power.  The stock wires are just fine for a street bike - save your money.

Unless - you are changing them out to just to get the color scheme effect - I wouldn't know about that though

Must disagree.  Not all plug wires offer an improvement.  But the red ones... the red ones... the red ones make a huge difference (vroom vroom).  A red plug wire can pull a wheelie and a stoppie at the same time just laying on the ground all by by itself.  Stick a spark plug in it and it can achieve orbit.  It's all true.

OK, I stand corrected.  The RED ones are definitely worth it.  But the other one's are still a waste of money.

I'll be totally honest though...

They don't make the bike run any better, nor faster, they just compliment the best color H-D ever decided to paint a motorcycle and coordinate well w/that color. But since part of that color combination (O/B) is black the stock ones work well too. :D :D :D

Black, red, yellow and some off-tan-orangish color that has nothing to do with Firedood.  But they blew the blue.

Yes.  You can.  But be afraid, be very afraid.  You know the old saying; once you go red....... (your wallet is dead!)

Sorry, but if I'm not mistaken you have a black/slate bike.  The extra performance of the red wires only works on red bikes, which we all know are already the best and fastest color.  I think it's similar to the painted part restrictions on CVO's; you have to prove you have a red bike to buy the red wires.  You folks with inferior color bikes will need to stick with the black, yellow, or orange wires.  I know it doesn't seem fair, but such is life.
