New CVO Alarm Fob not working
« on: April 08, 2012, 08:21:26 AM »

Hi All -

Just bought the slate grey 2012 CVO Street Glide yesterday…..  AMAZING.

However, one thing I have noticed after the excitement and a little riding yesterday, my FOB's are not turning on or off the alarm.  It's as if the alarm system has not been activated by the dealer or something like that…

I am planning on calling the dealer on Monday, but they are about a 45 minute drive (which I know is a great excuse to go for a ride!!!) but if it is something as simple as activating a code or something, that would be great.  Maybe I have to activate each FOB as a new FOB??

Any ideas?

Thanks!!

I may be wrong but if they were not working you would not be able to ride the bike.

That's what I thought too…. However, I left both FOBs in the house and went out and was able to start and move the bike with no problems.  It's like the alarm is not on.

The "key light" on the speedo does not flash…FYI

The security is inop. until the fob's are assigned. sounds like they missed some thing.

I'm sure somebody will chime in soon that knows more about how it all should work. If the batteries get low on the fob or I am more than three feet away the alarm is activated.

security system must be activated before delivery - yours evidently is not.

Makes you really confident in "dealer prep" when they miss something like this.  Unless something has changed very recently, the dealer has to initialize the security system during prep.  And I'm not aware of any way the customer could do it, so it looks like you have a good excuse for a nice little ride.  Tell the dealer he owes you lunch and a tank of gas.

Your alarm system has not been activated or else your light would be flashing on your dash when you walked away from your mc.  Take both fobs and mc to the dealer so they can activate them.

Yep.... they did not activate the alarm and they have to do it with their computers at the dealer.  Looks like I will be making a trip to them soon......

Update:

Went down to the dealer last Saturday to get the alarm figured out.  Turned out the fobs were programed, but there was never a pin number programed in.  Took all of about 2 mins and all is good.
