Are you saying the 2012 meeting are in Sept., or the 2013 meetings are in Sept.?

dealer meeting will be Aug. 20-23, 2012 in Milwaukee Frontier Airlines Center.

Maybe a lot of 2012 bikes in inventory and they need more time to sell them? If I remember correctly the 100th anniversary bikes had a 14 month run , seems odd to shorten the run for 110th anniversary bikes.(unless 2014 is to really be pushed late.)

I confirmed this with the Business Manager of Oakland H-D yesterday. The 2013 110th Anniversary Models will not be released prior to the dealer meeting in late September and not be available to the consumer until the 2nd week of October. There will be NO new models shown at Sturgis this year.

Or maybe they are still working on the secret formula for the coolant.  You know, the proprietary stuff everyone will have to buy from them to maintain their warranty. 

Or perhaps they didn't get enough advance notice of Willy G.'s retirement so they have to do a rush catchup job on the commemorative paint job they will apply to all 2013 models.  Instead of skulls, they'll have a bunch of little berets.

Or maybe they need more time to figure out how to fix the issues on the HD-LAN system that they haven't fixed for two years on the Softails.  It's about time they spread that technology to the other models, but it would be best to fix the existing bugs first.

I've got a bunch more, but that's enough for now.
