Need advice from Colorado members
« on: July 24, 2006, 11:07:34 AM »

Was thinking of taking a pre Sturgis run thru southern UT, four corners area & into CO on US 666 (good number). Was thinking Dove Creek, Durango, downtown Pagosa Springs then head north. Or could swing N on 184/145 & do 62 to Ridgeway , then 92 f/ Delta to Sapinero. What's better, the W or E side of the divide? So many roads, so little time.

Thanks in advance;
Steve

Hey Steve,
I think I'd go for your second choice. After Sapinero try 285 to Leadville/Red Cliff/Minturn. Go a little ways on I70 East and take 40 to Granby then 34 to Estes Park. I25 will get you into Wyoming and on your way to Sturgis.

If you're in Durango it would be tragic to miss the Million Dollar Highway up through Ouray.
(US 550)
Then you can go over McClure Pass by taking CO Hwy 92 to CO Hwy 133. This takes you to Carbondale. That's a short hop to I-70. Then you can take I-70 East to I-25.
Don't be put off by I-70, it's gorgeous and fast (75mph limit).
