I must be the lucky one....
« on: April 10, 2012, 12:04:22 AM »

....to have all the CVO issues on one bike.

This is my first CVO (2012 Ultra ..the Orange one) and here is the list of things that need to be addressed in it's first check up:  (All of these "issues" have been corroborated with others on this site....Thanx to all....you've been a huge help)

1.  Right side tank emblem falling off.
2.  Voltage regulator going out. (Check engine and charging light intermittent)
3.  Heated seat doesn't work.
4.  Fuel gauge needs calibrated.
5.  Hiccups at throttle feathering.
6.  Very loud "neutral rattle".  (TSB M1246)  Moco says "Normal"
7.  Steering head bearing apparently too tight (causing high speed (70mph) weave)
8.  Rear shocks lose 5 pounds after a week.

I love this bike....but it's truly trying my patience.   I'm just lucky to have a late December 2011 production date I guess.....maybe they were already on Christmas break in their mind when they built poor Lucy!

Please give me some words of encouragement....LOL......again...it's my first CVO.

Frustrated,

Dealer says...."bring it in....we'll get her fixed"

Yes....you will.....but how long does this go on.....and for $37K?     I haven't had this much problem with any of my new harley's....

Again....as long as all these things are addressed....I do LOVE this bike .....or I should say....I imagine loving this bike.....

What ? None of you have replaced the front fender twice because the graphics were painted crooked ?
I got the leaky rear shock replaced and it's soon going to have the ignition switch replaced because of the faulty pinched electric wire.
Still, I just love my CVO !!!

Welcome to the CVO World!!! I had to deal with the 08 SEUC with all its issues and then I sprung for a 10 SEUC and I have been dealing with all it's issues. I keep reminding myself everyday that I love my CVO. You need a Good Dealer to work with to get all the issues resolved and get in that Love/Hate relationship with Harley. I call it the Black Hole!! My 2010 runs awesome now after 3 motors but it took allot of patience on my part. The issues you guys are bringing up are minor issues but you just have to be patient and work through them. I agree for the amount of money spent on these bikes they should be flawless from the factory but Mother Harley has not perfected that type delivery!! Sit back and enjoy the ride!!(DB)

I have 4000 miles on my 2012 CVO and had my fuel door "button latch" replaced, it broke and i couldn't open it!  Today my engine light and battery light came on at the same time.  My voltage went down to 12 volts when I started to shut off all of the electronics I could and the lights went off.

I guess I will have the dealer look at that the next time I take it in.

Mine started off with two left passenger floorboards. they also didn't have the iPod, but found it. Mine will cut out until it warms up a bit and then runs great. I had the regulator replaced also. there was an issue with some of the regulators built at certain times. I heard about them before I got a 2012. I think it affected other models that year also. All in all, I like it. Haven't had some of the problems others have had.

Hmmm.  My FLHTCUSE7 is fine.  I bought it 8/25/12.  I have over 12,700 miles on it.  My only issue has been the iPod cable (covered in many threads on this site).  The tank badge was loose, but I dealt with that myself with some LocTite glue applied with a syringe.  The pressure in the rear shocks has been an issue with those shocks forever.  My '05 had the same issue.  I changed them out with the Premium H-D adjustable shocks.

Some of these things are just issues with Harley Davidson.  I don't let them ruin my enjoyment of a fine ride.  I get lots of compliments on the bike, and some come from envious metric riders.   ;D
