Fullsac Baffle to Long
« on: April 11, 2012, 04:33:28 PM »

Was thinking about cutting about 2"off the end of the baffle,  that way you dont see that little small pipe in the end cap.  Anyone done this, I was curious if this would change the souund any.  Really like the sound of the 2" baffle,  just dont like the look of that little pipe at the end of the end cap.

It will change a bit.
I guess you can't have it both ways!

I asked that question while on the phone with Fullsac and was told that it would cause an echo like sound. I hope that helps.

Louder and a different tone.
You would have to HEAR the difference, you really can't EXPLAIN it.
Very subjective.
Some people like drag pipes too! Go figure!

Paint the inside of the end cap and the end plate and stub of the baffle black.  Then when you glance at the muffler from the rear you will just see a black hole and you won't notice the stub.  Makes more sense than messing up a properly engineered baffle system IMHO.  And yes, I've actually done that on more than one set of mufflers in my life.

The Fullsac baffle is already about 1" shorter than the baffle that came in the muffler (the rearend of it).  I personally wouldn't make it any shorter.  Paint it as Jerry stated.

Use flat black BBQ paint.. works better than the hi-heat header stuff

X2

I put about 5 coats on the end before installing in muffler.  I think Steve paints about 50 baffles with one can.     :cherry:

I did that to mine...with the 2.25 SD cores. I didn't like the look of the core almost to the end of the end cap so I cut a little off and then painting the ends with a high heat black. looks great now. not sure of the sound because I did this before I put them in for the 1st time
