« on: April 13, 2012, 11:30:36 PM »

is there some bushing in there that should keep it snug and not rattle?  I think the lever might be undersized or not a good fit.   warrantee time i think. :nixweiss:

I made a shim out of a plastic milk jug,  cut  out to shape of the bottom  of housing, punched a hole for the pivot pin put it between lever and housing on the bottom .  I am out of the country I will post pics on my return.

My 2012 slate and black did the same. Dealer bent tension spring out and it seems to be better. They said replacing the assembly won't fix it but if I want it replaced they would.

Shhhh.   A neighbor put a copper washer on the bottom and that snugged it down just right. It's perfect, smooth operating, not a rattle or any noise.  Thanks Bob.  :)

Hey,This is my first reply.I'm new to the site, what I used is a tension washer from the quick release latches on the sissy bar(I replaced the black with the new chrome ones.Remove the snapring from the clutch piviot pin, lift the pin just enough to slide the washer in,align washer with pin, push pin back down and reinstall snap ring - works

My 2011 SEUC and 2012 SESG both do it and the dealer is aware of the issue so I would ASSume that Harley is aware of it, yet THEY will not come up with a fix for the issue or re-engineer it going forward.  Same old song and dance, I love these bikes and spend a butt load of money on them just to have the MOCO blow us off.  I know if I had  customers spending $30,000+ in some cases every year I would do all I could to make them happy.  :sauer005:

I have a new lever on order but I know it will be just like what I have.  I saw how it was fixed and I k ow it won't get any better than how it is now.  Try what I had done,  I'm sure you will be ok with it.  If the copper washer is a little too high, just sand it down slightly.  Slide it under the lever, put the pin back in with the snap ring and done.  :).  Works great

If if works then it's the proper fix.

Just be careful to not make it too snug.  There needs to be enough play to ensure the lever and thus the master cylinder piston definitely return completely when you release the lever.  Since the lever pivot area is not sealed and is prone to being hit with bugs and road grime and grit, binding can easily become a concern if you go overboard.

Thanks Jerry.  The guy who fixed it for me said the same thing.    Didn't want it too tight just for that reason.   So far I love the repair.  I'm gonna leave it.   :)
