I have since shorten mine but When it is long it pulls better. BUT that being said that one is SSSSure long. I have seen some real short ones and the trailer wags around like a dogs tail.

I use one like that for launching my boat in shallow water and have been thinking about putting a outboard motor on my Bushtec. Bridge out in Cadiz, no problem...brilliant    Doc

Dang, now you guys know we really are rednecks up here in Oregon 
 The guy must be a transplant to Oregon. Everyone up here knows if the trailer loaded weighs less then 1800 lbs no license plate required.  If that weighs more then 1800 lbs he has other problems.

Maybe that is his boat trailer Doc and he just modified it to accept the cargo box.  In any case it is way weird looking.

First, I agree, it is really long!  But, if it is homebuilt, I can probably explain where he's coming from. There are websites for MC trailers that give reasons for long tongues.  The guideline is the tongue  length should be twice as long as the width of the trailer tire track.  So a 36" wide track equals a 6 ft tongue, measured from the axle to the ball hitch, to minimize wiggle. Do all factory made bike trailers do this?  No.

Once you have your track width and tongue length set, you can move the trailer box as far forward as possible on the frame. And then mount a platform for a ice chest in front of the box to minimize the visual impact of the long tongue. He probably thought if double the track width is good, even longer is better!?!?  Better than wobbling I guess. But, a cage could see his taillight go by, then change lanes into his trailer, as mentioned above.
