CFR Mods
« on: April 28, 2012, 01:56:32 PM »

I have a 2012 FLTRX with the fullsac Xpipe B, Tman 600sm cam and CFR mufflers. I was wondering if any of you had modded the CFR to get some back pressure, if so what did you do? Torque cones? I was wondering if just a bolt thru the muffler(located just past where it mounts to the head pipe) would help. Or a bolt thru the end of the Xpipe.

Thanks,
Cv

I should have a set Monday. I heard a bike with them on and liked the sound so, here I go. Have you had performance problems since putting them on? Just curious why you are asking about back pressure.

CV,

Just did modified CFR Mufflers (packing removed) with Fullsac X Pipe, T-man 625 Cam and T-man Stage 2 Head work and having tuning issues on bottom end. I have ordered Rush Torque Cones and will let you know the results after installed and run on Dyno. Plan "B" is to repack Mufflers if Torque Cones don't net results we are looking for on bottom end.

Got my CFR mufflers. Put em on, sounds great and looks even better but.......wont run at all. Fullsac b head pipe with woods cams. Had the 2" fullsac cores in and tuned. 108/118 with a tts. Runs great. I am going to have to take it and do a complete tune with the CFR's. It seems almost like you put a stage 2 set up and a tock map. Idles ok but cuts out and on one cylinder on the bottom and pings and is real hot. I just put the Fullsac's back on and rode for the weekend, til i can get it tuned. Wish me luck. If they didnt look so good with the fluted tips and sound so cool , I wouldnt be doing this

I took my bike to Ed at The Dyno Difference in Dallas to tune my cfr's. He optimized my tune on my bike with fullsac 2" cores, 777 cams, .030 cometic. He then put the CFR slip ons and went to work. It actually has a 4 more torque and 3 less hp. There is Quite a dip that others talk about with the CFR's on the dyno chart, but when I got there it would hardly run with them on. After riding it you cant even tell it is there. If you didnt see the chart you wouldnt know it. Runs and sounds great, if you like it a little loud. I have a map for the Fullsac set up and a map for the CFR set up. In 30 minutes I can have either set up on and both run super. Ed said that all CFR's that he tuned seem to have that dip. Cant say enough about the quality of Ed at the dyno difference.

Hey guys,

I haven't been able to get those mufflers out of my mind.  I currently have the stock cans with Fullsac heads and 2.25 baffles and a perfectly tuned TTS map.  I want these CFR's like nothing else, I just don't want to mess with bike that's running well under the current set up!  Has anyone had any luck running the Fullsac head pipe and the TTS with the CFR's.  If so, please PM me and fill me in...many thanks!

You can run them with your set up, but you will have to have it retuned, no doubt about it.Save the tune you have and have it tuned with the cfr and save it, then you have both setups. Mine doesnt put out as much power but if you want a different sound then, there you go. The Fullsac set up has been great on mine, but after almost two years i was ready for something different. I got an email today from a member who wanted to see em on the bike so I am posting these pics

have cfr on my stock 2012 ultra sound very good

I to took possession of my CFR-FLH 002 F slip on's earlier this month and so far its running well and sounds awsome!. I have a bit of pop during decal, so tomorrow Ill be checking all connection from header pipes to the muffler clamps. Talked with Cary Faas about it Friday and was told to do the above inspection prior to doing anything else. I'm not a number chaser but if this doesn't help I am thinking about the ThunderMax Autotune Closed Loop ECM System, makes since to have a unit that constantly adapts and monitors my driving habits.

Any info is welcome
Thanks in advance

I had the Thundermax system on my 2010 CUSE.  I didn't have a lot of luck with it, if I were you, I would do some homework before i coughed up $900.  The key is a good base map and I would be money they don't have one for CFR's, they will recommend something close.  I think you will need to get the bike tuned and a base map set no matter what system you choose.

Thanks sound advice and yes although I did not mention that, I did talk at a tuner and for around 89.00 bucks he will run some numbers for me but advised me to get a SERT but if I do that the price goes up  very quickly and from what I heard the SERT is a flash type unit that transfer base curves depending on whats on the bike and the FLHTCUSE7 is a "unique kind-of-factory stage three" so I'm told. My question is this, what could possibly be flashed into my system utilizing the sert thats not already their from the factory I.E. mine VS. a stock bike that has added intake , exhaust , cam and maybe some headwork this I could see.

Hope I'm not making a big deal of this, but your right in saying $900 is a lot to plop down.
O by the way I rode the bike for 2days last week with the original slip ons and they too pop a bit at decel wonder if any other SE7 had this occurrence?

Thanks again
