voltage regulator problem 2012 CVO SG
« on: April 28, 2012, 09:19:25 PM »

I had a malfuntion issue in a voltage regulator. The dealer changed it.
Maybe the sound system is the responsible for that. What dou you think? :nixweiss:

There's been a massive amount of voltage regulator failures - seems to be directed towards a manufacturing issue from the supplier...  I doubt it is at all related to the sound system...

This is big problem on the 12's.  Here is a tread that was that this was discussed in.  Talked to my local Harley Shop again last week and they said they are still seeing a high rate of failure of regulators on touring models.

Dealer just said it affected Nov. 2011 to February 2012 build's...I'm pretty sure there are notes somewhere as to what Vin's affected as well...

Has anyone else got one of these from the mother ship ?
« Reply #10 on: July 30, 2012, 09:19:15 PM »

Got a letter in the mail today from mother ship AKA Harley Davidson Motor Corp and states that dear owner of a 2012 touring softail dyna or xl and goes on about voltage regulator assembly and it's durability. Says that I can get a no cost upgrade thru my dealer and should only take 30 min or so to replace.

Has anyone else heard of this?

Thanks

I had mine fail about 3 weeks ago at 4400 miles.  That's pretty good, I've heard some gone in less than 1000 miles.   I got a letter in the mail today from hd about a campaign to switch out bad regulators.  Isn't that nice?   :confused5:  sometimes dealers have to wait for chrome regs.   I would check and see if Anyone needs replacement.  Not fun to breakdown and get stuck somewhere.  :'(
