HD VISA card
« on: April 30, 2012, 08:52:03 PM »

I'm thinking of getting a HD VISA card and was wondering if there are any downsides?  Is it 1% Harley dollars for each dollar spent?  Do all dealers participate?  Do you have to get the $25 vouchers to get your money?  Any negatives before I sign up?  How many of you have one?  I need a FXRG jacket and I thought this would be a good way to get one.  My Cabela's card has a bunch of points, so I'm good there for a couple of years.  Thanks for the replies.

I have one... haven't had any complaints... I'm a credit card company's worst nightmare... I don't carry a balance and they are paying me (chrome cash) to use the card. ;D You do have to call and request your vouchers be sent to you and you then take them to dealer and use them to purchase items. As far as I know all dealers participate. One thing you should know though... if you buy something that costs more then the vouchers you have on hand you have to use the H-D CC for the balance of the purchase.

I've had mine for several years, Not one problem and I use mine for personal and business use. I get lots of chrome cash. Just keep the balance paid off and your interest down and reap the savings.

I've had a HD Visa since 2002.  Same ++'s as everyone above, no negatives.  I always pay off the full balance each month.  I use it for big purchases like appliances, truck tires, etc.

I was on vacation last year, found my SE6 out of state.  After negotiating to a good bit below MSRP, they wanted $1,000 down to hold it for a week until I could get back up there.  Used my HD Visa to hold it!!

I usually request my Chrome dollars a month or so before our big summer trip.  I use the $25 vouchers to buy HD T-shirts all along the way.  Even tho' the rule is use your HD Visa for any amount over the voucher, I've found that some dealerships will take $3 or $4 in cash with a $25 voucher for a HD shirt.

On our summer trip, all food, gas, lodging, etc. go on the HD Visa, then we pay it off as soon as we get home.  Same for Christmas shopping.

It is the only credit card we have.  I often wonder if after years of paying off the balance each month and never, ever paying them any interest, will they cancel me?!?!?

Mine must be a little different. They just upped my limit again and signed me up for bigger bonuses. I get 3% for HD products, food and a few other items.....5% on fuel......most everything else is 2%......typically have over 1k every 2 months.....cash it in and send to Rebecca :2vrolijk_21: think I still hve $1175 on credit with her

Is there an upper limit you can accumulate?  I have a GM card, and at around $4,000 you top out.  Do they do something similar with the HD Visa?  God knows my wife could probably earn enough at the Mall to get me a new CVO in short order!

Why limit yourself to being able to use credit card rewards at just a particular business?  Just asking since I don't know anything about the card you guys are discussing, but I would think a regular rewards card that pays you cash that you can spend anywhere would be a smarter plan.   :nixweiss:
