Is your bike stock?  If so, it's running lean.  Hate to say it's necessary to add a tuner to allow it to run cooler...but it would certainly help...  So would changing cams, and on and on....

If the plan is to leave it stock, it's gonna be hot on your foot...   :nixweiss:

Fullsac x-pipe is ceramic coated I believe and that should help take care of it.  CVO's are hot though.  I've got Bub7 TDX and PCV with autotuner but mine can still get hot.  Also stock oil cooler fins get clogged real quick with road dirt and sand around here.  I have to hose it and brush it out frequently.  Makes a noticeable difference when it's clean vs. dirty.

Also noticed that heat blows through the large hole cut into the frame crossplate right under the seat.  It can make your seat feel hot if you got a skinny one.  Looking for a magnetic cover plate to put over mine.

Also more air flows around without the stock heat deflectors imo.

If you do what I did and ride for a summer in 100 - 120 degrees then when you do the exhaust upgrade you will love it

I live in south florida... last week I took my lowers off,  That makes a huge difference that the air can now escape..I lose the speakers, but I really don't care,  I still have 6 others. I did the exhaust, cams, and a tune,,  Buddy, these bikes are just hot! If you want to be able to ride without cooking yourself,  do the upgrades..Then you will be ok with that bike..Removing the lowers was the best of all the improvement I think. :huepfenjump3:

Internal combustion engines produce power by producing heat.  Bigger internal combustion engines produce more heat.  Without heat, your Harley would be a piece of garage art suitable for collecting dust.  So embrace heat, it's good for you. ;)

First, your right foot and lower leg are sitting right next to the catalytic converter.  Catalytic converters run really really hot by design.  Since Harley didn't see fit to properly isolate the high temps from the rider (since the double wall pipes and shielding might make the bike ugly and more expensive to produce), it's up to the customers to break the law and fix the problem the easier way.  Swap out the stock headpipes for a catless aftermarket product, and store the original in the attic or basement just in case the authorities start requiring motorcycle emission checks sometime in the future.  Then tune the bike so that it runs a little richer, since a richer mixture will burn a little cooler.  It will also run a little better.  Then if you still feel a need for more heat reduction, remove the lowers and let more air flow past your foot and leg.

Oh yeah, lowers got to come off when it gets 80 degrees +.  Also the fairing air deflectors don't have to come off but open them all the way to let the air flow straight through.

Yep, gotta git rid of the cat!
I take my adjustable doors off my lowers in the summer, works for me!
I like the looks of the lowers.
Good tune, no cat will really help with the heat issue.

just remember - most of the things you do to deal with heat - may void the warranty

bummer - but ....
