Saw (and sat on) an 07 SE Ultra Black/Orange today
« on: July 27, 2006, 05:50:43 PM »

Saw a new 07 SE Ultra Black/Orange today at Kutter HD in Janesville, Wi.  It was delivered today and is available as the guy who ordered it backed out.  (I am waiting for my Candy Cherry/Black SE Ultra)  Sorry, but did not have a camera with me...

Impressions -

I sat on it and I cannot sit flat footed (32" inseam).  It seems to be the extra height is due to the heated seat, because on an 07 Ultra, I am flat footed when sitting.  I see a lowering kit in my future.

The floorboards seem smaller then on my 04 SEEG.

The leather tour pak and luggage rack are small!!  I never looked to closely at the 06 leather tour paks.  I am sure this is the same, but it is much smaller then the King Pak I have on my 04.  I do a lot of road trips and the small tour pak is buggin me.  Might have to figure out what it takes to swap to a King Pak.

The quality of the paint looks great.

I need to figure out the air cleaner/ exhaust options.  It is not obvious how easy this will be to swap to a high flow air intake and aftermarket exhaust.  I don't know if this is new to the 07's or not, but there is some type of computer controlled baffle in the exhaust that controls right/left flow.  I suspect this is emissions driven, but also seems like one more thing that can go wrong.  I don't know how easily this system can be disabled to be able to put aftermarket exhaust on.  I also don't know if the air cleaner can be altered to high flow without screwing up this setup.  Lots to learn.

The heads have a "110" cheesy tag mounted where the cast "103" label was on the 103 motor.  I suspect if the label was removed you would see "103" cast into the head.

Don't really like the hand grips, and because of the heated grips, I won't be able to swap to my favorite style grip.

All and all, the bike is great and I can't wait to get mine, but there a few detail things I wish were different.  Probably nothing that money can't fix, as usual.

I looked it over pretty well, so if anyone has questions...just ask..

FYI - my 04 SEEG Orange/Black is for sale and available after Sturgis...tell all your friends!!

I saw my B/O CVO ULTRA tonight still sitting attached to the crate bottom at my dealer's loading dock!!!  The bronze/caramel pearl color blend in between the black and the orange, as well as the Orange Pearl itself, is just beautiful!!

AND, I was looking at my bike in crappy loading dock light that was so poor I couldn't even get a digital camera to take a decent shot WITH FLASH!  Knowing that "these threads are worthless witout pics", I tried my darndest to take some tonight but they are horribly dark.  SORRY!

I will get some to you soon, IF someone else does not beat me to it!

I was the buyer who backed out of the CVO Ultra at Kutter. Their financing intrest rates sucked so I drove another hour up to Sauk Prairie where I took delivery of the CVO Ultra I put a deposit on last week. There are definite pro's and con's to this bike but I really cannot make a final determination until I ride it for a few hundred miles. The bike at Kutter is still avail if anyone is interested at MSRP plus $700.00 freight and setup.

That's the best pic yet for the color that I have seen, looks great.  As for the GPS manual I had to have them order me one when I had mine installed on the 06 SEUC so you can get them.

I actually haven't looked at it much as most features are relatively intuitive once you have time to play with it.

Congrats on the bike.

That is ONE BEAUTIFUL SLED!  Much better looking than the pics I have seen.  Can't wait to see one in person.

The 06 owners manual had a section on setting up the garage door opener.  Hard to believe they missed it on the 07.  I never had one before and thought it was unnecessary, but now that I have it I use it every day.

Congrats my bro!   [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Damn nice copout....those are the same complaints I heard from my OL when I got mine...she was spoiled by my '04 Ultra....you can move the tourpak back no big deal...that'll give her more room....if she don't like the "lumbar support" they have built into it...there is a piece of the backrest you can remove behind that little pad...it's about 1/4" thick or more, then you cover the unsightly staples with some material and put the pad back on..no more lumbar support....well atleast most of it is gone.  Ride it and enjoy it...that 110" motor should be nothing to sneeze at.

I thought when you bought a brand new HD motorcycle you got to pick out a free t-shirt.  At 35k, they should have given you the new Screamin Eagle jacket.  No respect! [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

copout221, I purchased my 06' SEUC from Sauk-Prairie in May this year and was presented with 2  - $25 gift cards to be used at their store for anything, much better than a couple t-shirts. My wife immediately spent hers on jewelry (surprise!!) and I used mine at a later date towards a nice shirt.
Very nice looking bike BTW!
What is with the wrinkle look on the passenger's arm rest?

Does anyone know what it takes to remove this exhaust and associated systems and put a set of Rinehart True Duals or Vance and Hines on?

How about a high flow air intake?

With the introduction of the 02 sensor...I would want that kept in place....so you'd either need a bung welded onto the new pipes or new pipes with the bung already in place.  I don't know how much of a range the 02 sensors have...but I'd be willing to bet they are enough to make up for exhaust changes atleast (and perhaps elevation changes).....a new intake might be pushing it a bit.....but a download of sorts would certainly bring it back to a point where the 02 sensors are enough to keep the A/F mixture good.

Might be a good idea to keep the stock stuff on for a couple months and see what hits the market.

Very nice, copout!

When they set the bike up, they are supposed to move the tourpak back from it's "shipping mount"...if you take the liner out and look, there are holes which will move it back an inch or more...make sure they have done this as it will give your passenger a little more room back there.

With regards to the exhaust/intake mods...the dealer probably looked at you funny because from what I've been told, they have been instructed by the MOCO not to do any mods to them.  It will be interesting to see if they will do any downloads to the ECM if you change things up...and we don't even know yet if downloads are available for the 110 w/mods.  Of course, there will always be the other options, like PCM, etc, but you might have a hard time getting the dealer to touch anything that effects emissions.

As far as room in the tourpak...from reading here it probably has a bit less room, but it's a little taller with the hump....I'm sure you can get a King, but it you want matching paint, that's going to be a different matter entirely...if it can be done at all, it's going to cost big bucks, and frankly I would be surprised if it's even available as an option.  From my understanding, they will not sell ANY CVO paint schemes to anyone other than a CVO owner, and to my knowledge a painted King, since it is not part of the original bike, might be impossible to acquire

The bike is beautiful, so log some miles...the power will make you forget all about some of those things you're not used to yet.
