SHAME on him for trying to make a living, possibly not seeing the sign !

I doubt if you would say that if he was coming at you head on, on your side of the road on a curve.

Tragedies on the dragon due to tractor trailer rigs, much less unescorted oversize loads, are well documented which led to the unusual step of prohibiting trucks on it. The driver had no business being there. I'm thankful that nobody, far as we know, got hurt or worse. As fate would have it I had another set of friends almost meet this guy head on yesterday as well. Could of been very bad. Glad you had a great ride Chip. Wonder how the SERG compared to your previous trips with other members of your fleet.

nice ride on a day off.  That color blue really pops.  it is amazing how little cage and truck drivers think about others on the road.  Put some metal around them and they feel invincible.  They all should ride our ride for a while and everyone would be safer.  Peace

I was being sarcastic!

I wasn't.
I posted those pictures to remind others that disaster potentially lurks around the next curve on the Dragon.
As I took that last picture the  truck driver threw up his hands up like "What can I do" because he was on that road.
That was a wasted effort as far as I'm concerned. He had to see the signs about the road and chose to ignore them.

I saw your friends. I'm just glad they didn't meet that truck in an unpleasant fashion.

Another example of watching the GPS more than the road signs.

Chip I am so envious of your great ride   I so wish I was riding with you on this day trip.  I am hoping to pull my 2012 SG out of the garage in the next week and take it on a short ride.  It has been 7 mo's of healing without even getting to ride around the block. I'm a little nervous  :'( about the first time, but your ride with the posted pic's has inspired me.   :P. Thank you for sharing your awesome day with me and everyone else on this site  :dankk2:  And your "new" RG is beautiful with the sun bouncing off the "purdy" blue.  I hope someday I can brag about our path's crossing on the road with me on my SG and you riding one of your blue beauties!

:nervous:Chip, i noticed he had a lift ,so he probably was delivering to a job site on the dragon somewhere.on the foothills parkway you have to request permission but no escort required which could make a lot safer for all. I have done jobs in some of those areas and had to transport heavy equipment (dozers etc.) we seek permission and use marked lighted escorts with driver equipped red hand flags and experienced drivers with short lowboys so they can make the curves. and you are right this is one dangerous road! None of the mentioned is required except permission in some areas. I think the areas marked with no commercial vehicles require permission, think rules say that the route has to be the sole access to the destination you are going to. Example: Coke truck to Deals Gap. . Done a job at the start of the dragon couple years ago paramedics asked us to move our vehicles. seems we got their parking place.  they just come down and park and wait on the CALL. they know its going to happen so they just mosey on down and get into position. Glad you had a safe ride but be careful when your up there. always goin to be truckers, bikers and others who push to the limit and beyond. i am not a big fan of the dragon myself, the one and only reason is its terrible record.rock slides, thrill seekers, big trucks with no business whatsoever on that road. is it worth it?
not saying this trucker was in the right. just trying to let you know what might have caused this guy to make a bad choice and for sure the wrong equipment for that road. his boss says deliver this rental lift unit to 345 dragon blvd.he takes off and its on then. you cant turn around up there. is that bike you were riding in the pictures blue or purple?
