Ahh. Another TTS question
« on: May 03, 2012, 07:19:20 PM »

My question of the day is:   Can I download my current map to a friends laptop computer with  my TTS that was "married" to my bike ?   I don't have my my current download saved anywhere.   The guy that tuned it still has it.  I hope  :o.    That's it.   Easy.  Thanks.   Stuart.

You just have to load their computer with the TTS Software.  Then you can save.  Why dont you just download it to your computer

Thinking I might want to tweak it a little more.   Just thinking about it.   I didn't want to go near it if it can't be saved right on the spot before he tries anything.   :nixweiss:

Stuey, you need to save your current map to your laptop from your bike, and keep it safe. Put it on a USB drive, or two, email it to yourself so it's on your provider's e-mail server, email it to ME if you want, etc.

Your TTS is married to your ECM - not to the laptop to which it's connected. You can connect any laptop that has the TTS software installed on it to your TTS unit... and save maps from, or restore maps to, your ECM.

Not sure if the TTS stores the calibration to the VCI the same as SEPST does.

Here is how the SEPST works.
You 2 options when loading a map to the ECM, from the VCI or a stored location on your PC. However you need to load a map before any reside on the VCI.

To give you an idea of how it works, when loading a map to you ECM, the software copies the calibration from your PC to the VCI first then uploads from the VCI to ECM, the calibration is saved to the VCI.
If you loose the calibration on your PC a copy of the calibration can be copied from the VCI.

Very simple, connect VCI to your bike as if you are going to update the map and select from VCI, from there you can select save as saving a copy back to your PC.

I don't think the TTS works that way... but I could be wrong.

I've always just opened a file on the laptop, then downloaded it to the ECM via the connected TTS unit, or saved the map currently in the ECM to a file on the laptop via the connected TTS unit...

Thats the advantage of the TTS, being able to save the calibration off the ECM back to you PC. (plus speedo calibration)  :2vrolijk_21:
SEPST does not have either option :nixweiss: however same as the TTS just down load the base calibration and fine tune from there.

Be aware that even though you can save your current map (from the ECM) with the TTS, you can not access that map for changes.  If you want to make changes to your current map, you must have a copy from the person that tuned it.
The SEPST saves the last tuned map to the VCI for access and changes.  You can not retrieve your current map from the ECM with the SEPST.
