4" Kerker Stouts
« on: May 04, 2012, 08:30:25 PM »

Thought I'd would post some pics of the 4" Kerker Stouts that I just installed.  I hear a lot about Fullsac, Hi-Outputs, CFRs, etc.  Just another option.  They sound just like my friends V&H Hi Outputs.  They are not cheap, I had to buy the black tips separate to keep the look I wanted.

I really like the look .  Have you done anything with the headers or are they stock? Have you noticed any difference in power as SuperTrapp claims?

I am leaning towards the SuperTrapp 4" Stouts. I understand they are very similar. They say SAE J2825 Compliant, which I will need to comply with Maine's new Noise Law.

How do you like the kirkers? Did you notice a marked improvement?

I kept the headers as stock for now.  Bike is plenty fast as is.  I haven't noticed the power difference they claim.  I think just adding slip-ons is not enough to "feel" a power difference.  But that is just my opinion.

Dead_Reckoning,

I didn't realize Maine had a noise law, I'll need to look that one up as we travel to Maine a lot.  The Supertrapp Stouts supposedly have a lower decibel rating than the Kerkers.  I love the sound, very low rumble at idle and nice growl with a twist of the throttle.  As a I replied to "vmatc" I'm just not "feeling" an improvement in power as the bike is pretty fast to begin with.  If I replaced the stock header and added a fuel mixture program I would expect a change "feel", that might be next on the list.

You're right about that one- unless you get rid of the cat in head pipe, you won't notice any performance difference, since the cat is such a huge impedance to exhaust flow. Once you do that though, you will need some kind of fuel management (tuner).

Sheldon's Harley Davidson - Auburn, MA.  I bought my CVO there, great service.
