Slip-on compatibility
« on: May 07, 2012, 10:13:40 AM »

I have a set of V&H Touring slip-ons currently on my '06. I have stock headers. I like the sound of the slip-ons but my wife does not. They are a bit loud I will admit. My question is will stock take-off's from the new (09-12) SE bikes fit my stock headers? I think I have 1-3/4" head pipes. I did do some searching on this topic but didn't see anything that addressed this exactly. I know the '06 pipes had the cat in the mufflers (will stay away from them) and I like the looks of the newer mufflers. To my knowledge the cat was moved to the head pipe or in the crossover which leave the mufflers cat-free. I presume the stock SE slip-ons will be quieter as well.

Any info would be great. Thanks in advance.

I think the '09 CVO mufflers had the cat in the muffler.  Look for sets off a '10, '11 '12.  People on here sell them from time to time.  Try them stock...you can always add the Fullsac later.  The stock baffles are pretty restrictive though.

Thanks for the information on the '09 mufflers Midnight Rider.

I'm hoping to be able to pick up a set via the classifieds. Keeping my eyes peeled for a set.

Negative,,, MY '09 CVO had the cat in the headpipe,,, That was the year when we were using the 96" touring headpipe w/o the cat
