Need Help Fast!!!!
« on: July 29, 2006, 03:58:21 PM »

Sweating my butt off in the garage and can't get the dang seat off...  rear screw out, not held up by the tourpak,  pulling to the rear, strap off.  Does the driver backrest have to come off?  If so, how?   TIA!!!!

Yes it most definitely has to come off before seat will come off. To get it off reach your hand down inside the cushions and squeeze the two rods toward each other that are connected to the pad this should release it and you will be able to pull it up and out.

TXBEAR,

When you put the driver backrest back in there are different height adjustments you can use when you place it back in there so the deeper you push it with the bars squeezed the lower you can set the backrest and vice versa if you want it taller on your back just make sure you push it side to side after you put it back in to be sure its locked in place.   One other thing to note since you have the seat off if you want it pointing forward more you can adjust the position of the receiver for the backrest by 3 simple unscrews / replace in position your looking for to make it more comfortable if it wasnt already :)

happy sweating.

Bear, If you don't want to sweat, simply pull the bike into the living room and set theA/C on 68 degrees. I know this won't help w/ the procedure for removing the seat, but at least you won't be sweating. Also, a Corona w/ lime also helps. Heck after 4 or 5 Coronas, you'll probably just say F--- It and leave the seat alone. That's always been my philosophy.  Mr. Big.

Probably in the hospital from heat stroke. Or maybe bombed out from Coronas.

Sorry to keep ya'll in suspense...all is well in Texas, just too fricken hot.  I was putting the tourpak relocation kit on and thought "Hey Bear,  wouldn't it be nice to be this hot in the winter!"  So I decided to hook up my Gerbings heated vest connection to the battery.  Hence my mechanical challenge.  How can you read an owners manual with eyes blinded by sweat??? HEY MAN, READ THE OWNERS MANUAL IN THE AIR CONDITIONED COMFORT OF YOUR LIVING ROOM WHILE SIPPING ON THE CORONAS. OR BETTER YET, TAKE IT TO YOUR LOCAL STEALER AND LET THEM DO THE HOOK UP FOR YOU---ONLY $250 LABOR PLUS $75 FOR MISC. PARTS + TAX ETC. FOR A TOTAL OF $475 TO HOOK 2 WIRES TO THE BATTERY. BUT WASN'T IT WORTH IT? YOU DIDN'T EVEN HAVE TO BREAK A SWEAT. OH BY THE WAY, THE STEALER PROBABLY DIDN'T REINSTALL THE SEAT CORRECTLY, SO YOU MIGHT BLOW OFF YOUR BIKE WHILE RIDING IT HOME!!! HANG ON TO THOSE GRIPS REAL TIGHT UNTIL YOU CAN CHECK THAT BACK SCREW ON YOUR SEAT AND BE SURE IT IS SAFE.
