Rocker Cover Gaskets replaced at 23,000 miles
« on: May 15, 2012, 10:11:30 PM »

Had a leak in the rear cylinder gasket- was dripping a small bit of oil onto the rear pipe- at least that explains the burnt oil smell.

My question is, is this normal mileage on a 110 for the gaskets to have to be replaced?

Reason I ask is that I'm concerned with possible excessive crankcase pressure, which from what little I know, could have caused this. I am running a RSD AC which has the breather bolts and tubes that run back into the intake.

If these bikes are known for this, how come I haven't heard about many people having a "krankvent" or other brand crank case valve? I put one on my previous Yamaha 1670 cc V Twin just as a preventative maintenance kind of thing.

Makes me worry that my trouble free bike is already showing symptoms the often spoke about problems to come-I'm sure I have poorly sealed rings and the related carbon build up- thinking I better plan for a top end job this winter, as I'll be around 30,000 miles by then  :'(.

It's much more likely you just had one or more loose rocker cover bolts.  Rocker cover gasket leaks are nothing new and definitely not just on 110's, so try not to get too paranoid.  ;)
