Love the deep rich sound of the Monster Ovals .......especially cruising in top gear .........but when on a long touring adventure ......the sound becomes a bit onerous (mostly at lower speeds) due to the CVO motor's powerful "hammering" quality. This is particularly apparent when wearing a helmet and going through the gears in hilly terrain. I've read that someone tried placing muffler insulation between the heat shield and muffler body and claimed a huge difference! Gave it a try and, for me, the difference was only marginally better. After removing the heat shield ........it appears that the "innards" are held in place by only two screws. Has anyone pulled the innards out of the can to see if the design would lend itself to some tinkering?
