First time this has happened to me on a Harley....?
« on: May 21, 2012, 05:49:51 PM »

So I was out riding today, a lot of cruising at 70MPH and some stop and go from traffic lights when I came back to civilization, stopped at a buddy's house to go have lunch. Left my bike at his place we were gone maybe 1.5 hours, get back, pull out the bike to go home, turn the ignition on and the fuel pump wasn't starting up? It wasn't my kill switch because my kill switch is always on run. I turned the bike off, tried again and same thing. Happened about 3 or 4 times total and nothing couldn't start the bike because it wasn't cycling. I turned it off again put it in gear (bike off) rocked it back and forth, back into neutral, turned it on and it started up like normal.

Anybody ever experience this before? I was caught in some VERY bad rain Friday and Saturday, not sure if the water has anything to do with it? Just wanted to know if this was anything to have the stealer check or if I should check anything? I have never had this happen before on any previous HD bikes (4 before this one) and I have been caught in some nasty rain before.

Thanks
FM

I'd do the easy stuff first, check for codes.

Ok then I'll start with the dumb questions. I don't have the service manual for this bike (yet), how do I get codes if any? On my last bike my Power Vision was my code reader but I haven't upgraded tuner or anything yet.

And yes 2012 bike......

Not free - $1.99 but well worth it imo.   :2vrolijk_21:

might have been something as simple that the bike could not tell your security fob was near so it did nothing

Yup.  I've had that happen a couple times myself.  Sometimes it seems to take a couple seconds more than usual to register that the fob is present.  Very infrequent and the first time it happened I though I had a major malfunction.
