This film is interesting, because there are some who say Willow Run never produced what it claimed to produce. They claim it ended up making less than 8,000 airplanes in total, because of union interferrance. One site making these claims is obviously a union run site as it is very hateful toward Henry Ford. He was violently anti-union and encouraged violence against anyone trying to organize. I won't post the link, but encourage anyone interested to look it up for themselves.
It's disappointing to think that kind of thing would impair the war effort. Especially the claimed link between H. Ford and Hitler. The same site claims Hilter modeled his SS division after Ford's Security team and that Ford financed his rise to power. I know nothing of those claims, aside from that site. It's common knowledge Howard Hughs interest in the German market and aviation, but only as an investor in a world power before they went rogue.
I'd like to ask please don't shoot the messenger. It's just what is out there on the net right now. I'd rather believe that impressive video, since my Grandmother at the age of 25 drove in convoys that delivered supplies and ammo to places like Willow Run and the Manhatten Project. She told me lots of stories about running over 50 mph with no headlights on back roads. What a difficult time it must have been. She had no idea what she was carrying until later when they would unload.
While looking back, it's easy to vilify, or glorify. I'd just like to know what the truth was and leave it be.
