Corbin Dual Tour vs 2010 Hammock Seat
« on: June 08, 2012, 09:56:47 AM »

I don't mind the hammock seat on my 2010 SE Ultra.  I have always had Dual Tour on past bikes and really liked them.  Can anyone who has changed to a dual tour tell me their thoughts after changing?  Particularly interested in comfort and where it sits in relation to Hammock seat as far as height and closer or further away.  Thanks in advance.

Made the change, went with solo with touring passenger pillion.
My opinion, it sits a bit lower.

Thanks.  Do you like it a lot better for comfort or not much change?

I switched to the heated dual tour Corbin after about 1000 miles on the stock seat.  The dual tour sits you back about 1.5" and down 1/2 to 3/4"..  I like the Corbin, my passenger(s) hate it.

I have tried the stock 10 seat, a Mustang heated touring, and a 2011 dual hammock with the bucket.  My passenger(s) all prefer these 3 seats.  I do not.

I like the dual Corbin for me as I feel I am sitting in the bike and not on it.  Plus it sits me back and down which the other 3 seats do not do.

A friend just bought a Mustang "super" touring seat and I'll be interested to hear his impressions as it is 19" wide and sits  you back and down.

Most people wonder how anyone can ride a Corbin as they are hard to the touch.  I am 6'1" FWIW..

Thanks.  Your information helps me a lot.  I was afraid my wife wouldn't like it as well but she doesn't ride with me that much.  I am 6' 1" too - the down and back will be good for me.  Did you change out to Corbin on the tour pak too?  Wondering if that is worth doing so it looks the same.  I can't figure out from their website if they have normal pad for full size tour pak or just for smaller tour pak.  They offer the arm rest type - I am not sure I would like those.

I have the ghost flame stitching in mine with the oval rider's backrest.  The shape of the backrest alone and how it fits my back is another reason why I like the seat.

I have the stock tourpack backrest and looks fine with the seat to me.  The Corbin with the arms-I do not care for the look at all.  May work fine but looks fugly to me.

Can post pictures of the seat if you like.

I didn't like the looks of the arms either.  I was wondering how the stock back looked with a Corbin seat.  If you could post pictures of stock tour pak cushions and your seat that would be great.  Thank you!

The thing with Corbins, especially with BSR's, is that they feel the seat and think it's going to be too hard to be comfortable.  So they've got that in their head before they even give it a chance.  A Corbin requires a little "breaking in" period and then it is the most comfortable seat made, IMO.  If I ever have to change my '11 SERGU seat out, that's what will go on it...I'll let the BSR use an Airhawk if required.  I have never thought the seats look strange in contrast to the stock backrests.  I wonder if Corbin would be willing to cover the stock backrest if you sent it to them?

They might do that but I will check out with just seat before I make a decision.  The Airhawk is a good thought if she doesn't like the seat.  I have never seen one of those either.

Passenger also uses the airhawk with the Corbin.  More air does not mean cushier either.  I had this picture in the camera.  Can take more on Monday if needed.

Here's when the seat was brand new.  The "puckers" in the leather are now nice and smooth.

Thanks for the pictures - it really helps to see it.  Looks good together.  No more worries from that.  I won't tell my wife she won't like the seat.  If she doesn't I can still fall back on the Airhawk.

My former BSR LOVED the Corbin, but everybody has different butts.  My current BSR finds the stock seat uncomfortable, so I got her the Airhawk Cruiser R.  It's a perfect fit for either the driver or passenger seat surface.  Properly inflated, it feels like a big wad of Jello under your butt.  If you need it, shop around on the Internet for best prices...I saved about $40 by doing so.

Thanks, I will do that.  Probably a good thing to just get one - it sounds like that will make her happier.
