I'm going with the S&S true dual head pipe and Monster Rounds....and a SERT and dyno.

In part to get rid of the cat and the associated heat...and a little extra umph.....and keep warranty at the dealer.

But....if you just get the slip-ons now, you can always get the head pipe and a tune later.

Posted this on the other topic:  Fullsac Stage I w/ TTS Mastertune and canned map.  $1100 if you do the work yourself and the difference in every aspect is excellent.  Best bang for the buck out there, IMO. Particularly if you like the looks of the stock pipes and cans.

I went with the Fullsac X pipe and 2" cones on my built skunk.I really like the looks and sound. But after looking at the restrictions I ordered aset MGS true dauls step tuned. I plan to Dyno with the X pipe and re Dyno with the true dauls and see what the numbers show. I plan on posting the results when I get done, may be a few weeks I still have to work for a living.

I started with slip ons (4" RCX) with the stock head pipe and noticed a nice improvement in sound.  Later I added a Powervision tuner and noticed even better sound and pretty decent power gain along with a much cooler running engine.  Finally I have just added Vance and Hines Dresser Duals and noticed much better sound, better performance and a chilly running motor.  Can't beat the true dual sound either, and I don't feel as though I lost torque...if I did it must be very minor...but what I do know for a fact is I picked up much more power and pull in the 4.5K - 6K range.  I have only been able to ride with this complete set up for about 20 miles so I don't have much data yet.  I will be riding to work over the weekend and that should log about 160 miles and a much better assessment of the new set up.  Keep it hear folks...

If you do a 2 into 1, you'll have to either "fix" the empty cutout in the left saddlebag or fit it with a ghost pipe. You can get decent power gains by staying with duals and going with an x-pipe to lose the cats and a good tuner. My '11 FLTRUSE had 2" Fullsac cores with V&H Power Duals and an SEPST tuner. The power gains were good, but a bit less than I'd hoped for over stock.

On my '12 SE Road Glide Custom I had the dealer install modified head pipes, an SEPST tuner and a set of performance baffles, which are similar to the Fullsac cores but have a slightly deeper tone. I prefer these - not just because of the sound - but also because there's no visible flange sticking out at the tips. Since I didn't have a chance to ride this with the stock exhaust, I can't say how much of a performance difference there was. But it is significantly more powerful than the last bike, which had the same motor but a bit more weight.

Barmats, what brand of modified head pipe and baffles did you use?  TIA.  Tom

My dealer has a performance baffle developed in-house that retains the stock look of the SE pipes but sounds awesome. It is a much cleaner look than the Fullsac cores and slightly louder (than the 2"). It has a deep rumble at idle and a powerful sound under heavy throttle, but is very smooth and mellow while cruising. The head pipes are catless. I've struggled with exhausts on previous bikes trying to get the best combination of sound, power and looks and really like this setup.

For my '12 Shunk this week: I just installed my Vance & Hines (V&H) dresser duals headers with the Rinehart 4" slip-ons. I bought the '09 V&H part #16749, because the O2 sensors of the Dynojet AutoTune are larger than stock HD sensors. Otherwise, with the new model pipes, you have to have the bungs "welded in" the pipe, for the sensors to fit. I also installed the Dynojet Powervision. I've been tweeking this device all week. The map I got from FM was a little weird, but the map I got from Dynojet works perfectly. Thanks Patrick. My tweeks are not as good as the one I got from Dynojet.

I can't describe how good my Skunk is now. It has been completely transformed with these mods. It just feels so opened up. My local tuner says "that having the factory cat installed is like running a race with a rag in your mouth". Words to describe: smoother, faster, cooler, faster, sound, powerful, faster...

^^^^^^^

Yes but is it faster :)

I should have my skunk Thursday, I'm going with the full sac x pipe and 2" power cores.  We have a local HD tuner that should be able to produce a cooler running 110 with better performance.
