Rinehart issues???
« on: June 12, 2012, 01:39:36 PM »

Changing out stock exhaust on my 2010. Was at the local HD dealer yesterday and he was bad mouthing Rinehart pipes saying they have recent quality issues. I've had 2 sets of rineharts on previous bikes and never experienced an issue. Looking at 4" slip ons for this bike.  I'm aware of the RH end cap issue but he was claiming loose baffles that start rattling, etc.  Like most you, I tend to rely on what riders say and post on this forum. Dealer was pushing VH High Flows. Nothing against VH but I personally like the RH sound better. Anyone hear of or experience trouble with their Rineharts?
Thanks!

Never had them but do a search of the site.  Numerous problems reported by those who have them.

Have had them on my 07 FLHRSE3 since new with no issues. As for the end cap issues, as long as your bike is tuned properly you will not have any discoloring. Put a 2 into 1 on my wife's Heritage. The end cap discolored badly. Had her bike dyno tuned and put a new end cap on right after dyno tune. Its been on now for 3 years and is as black as it was when new. Love the sound of Rineharts too!

Had Rineharts on my '06 Ultra, tuned and everything the tips still discolored. Then while out in Sturgis in 2010 and riding the hills the right side pipe turned bright yellow. Rinehart would not stand behind their product, so I went to the Vance and Hines tent at Black Hills Harley and put on the dresser duals, and H/O Monster Rounds and loved them.

I put RH True Duals on my 2010 Ultra Limited, put 5-6k miles on, then traded it for 12 CVO Ultra. Had the dealer swap the pipes off the ole bike and put them on the CVO. Now have 7000k miles and have had no problems, no dis coloring.  Very happy with the quality and sound.

You're gonna get a lot of responses from people with the old 3.5" Rineharts. Don't forget, they were made by different suppliers, and are a completely different muffler as compared to the new 4".

I have the new 4" and have had no issues with them after several thousand miles. I have chrome tips, but I've never heard of any discolouring issues with the 4" black tips- I think they've solved that issue.

Had 3.5 inch true dual Rineharts on my 05 SEEG and now have 4 inch true dual Rineharts on my 11 SESG. Both are great systems. Love the volume and exhaust note, especially when I roll on the throttle. The only downside is occassional popping if you let go of the throttle too quickly.

I had them on my 02 Ultra and the end caps turned almost Pink (I did have it tuned with a SERT by the dealer) and the baffles did start to rattle, I just pulled them out and using pliers made a few v shaped notches in them to stop the rattle. My current ride, 09 SEUC came with Vance & Hines Oval's and I like them as I felt the Rinehardt's were a little loud, especially when pulling my trailer. Haven't tried pulling the trailer yet with this bike but the V&H are a little quieter but bark when you accelerate, I love them, just need to get rid of the CAT now for heat purposes.

Had 4" RH on my 2011 SESG since 1.5 years and 10K miles without any problems so far. Also had the 3.5" on my previous 2008 RK without any problems at all.

There is an issue with 4" Rinehart's during a certain span of production. On my previous bike, 2011 Street Glide, the baffle shot the back of the left slip on while riding at 55 mph. Great no  one was behind me. I was told that there was a problem during the welding process and they replaced Both slip- ons at no charge. I really liked the Rinehart's but switched to V&H High output slip ons with power dual header pipe. That is the best combination I've heard so far. Rinehart did stand behind the product. They stated it was a known issue.
