Laurie and I took off friday, just to get away for a couple days, no real plans, just see where we might end up, Ive been wanting to go to big Sur for awhile, its been about 27 years since my last visit there, so we headed down Highway 1 from Half Moon Bay, stopped in Santa Cruz, and then down to Monterey for some lunch/dinner. We were going to stay there the night, but decided to go a little further to Big Sur and try and find a room there. We get there and there are zero rooms left, so us and about 200 other people who made same mistake as us that there would be rooms available, all head back up the coast highway 28 miles to Carmel. It was funny , every motel/hotel was booked, so 1 car would stop and go to desk, and come out and drive away, so the whole caravan would follow,...nothing all the way back to monterey, in Monterey, same story, nothing, so next town up the coast was Seaside...but the motel desks all say everything is booked up to Santa Cruz (45 miles away) because of a little league world series tournament, so as we are leaving monterey, we see what Id say is at best as I can describe as a roach motel...lots full, all the cars pass it up, laurie says "try there" so I stop and sure enough, one room available, cause the reservation stopped and saw the room and said 'No Thanks", lol, this is the last motel left on the way out of monterey,
