Martha's Vineyard
« on: August 06, 2006, 05:52:31 PM »

the Mrs. reminded me that we still havent made it over to the vineyard yet this summer so we saddled up sat. morning and headed down for the day. its about 95 miles to get to the ferry so we left around 7:00am pulled into the terminal around 9:00 and being on a motorcycle you get to go to the front of the line, no reservation needed. we caught the 9:30 over and spent part of the 45 minute crossing talking to some other bikers. the price went up again this year i think it was $78 for the bike and 2 riders round trip. better then a cage though thats 70+ for the cage 1 way not including the people.

once we landed we headed out and put about 55 miles on cruising around the island, stopped in a small town we hadn't been to before

back on the road we finised our perimiter run returning to oak bluffs, and a stop at offshore ale for some island brew and wings. nice rustic place you can throw your peanut shells on the floor and the IPA was gooooood

they were closing up the boat as we were driving up to the terminal. that was the 3:45, the next scheduled was the 5:00 leaving from vineyard haven. for those that have never been to the island you leave cape cod from woods hole and depending on the ferry you catch you may land at oak bluffs or vineyard have. about 5-10 minutes apart depending on traffic. so we head for vineyard haven coming arounf the bend we see a ferry at the terminal and luck was on our side we hit the terminal and got waved through to the staging area and made the ferry.

Ahhh, sounds like it's some kick a$$ beer. No wonder I didn't know about it probably isn't anywhere near Keystone, Red White & Blue brands on the shelves. [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif] Thanks for the information.

naitram...cool pictures...thanks for sharing.

Martha's Vin has been on our list of places to travel/ride for some time now.  Do you or anyone else know of/suggest any fly-n-ride deals close by?  (It doesn't have to be HD approved rental)  Not that we are going to  jump on a plane anytime real soon...just thinking/planning ahead.

Never heard of IPA either...have to add that one to the list.

We do like PIVO though! :D

Wow, loved the pics and the report, but it has enlightened me that we need to do a bit more research of the New England area.  [smiley=nervous.gif]

We are riding up to Waterford, CT for the weekend of August 25-27 and we thought we could just cruize around looking at the scenary and maybe take in Cape Cod.  If we have to worry about a ferry, we better rethink.   :o

No ferry needed for the cape...just a couple of bridges ...that can be a traffic nightmare (or the Cape Cod Tunnel if you have the permit ::) see pic below) , Friday Night onto the cape backs up and about 12-3 Sunday Afternoon leaving backs up.
