Planning on getting a 2013 CUSE and not keeping our 2008 Ultra.  Looking for thoughts on whether I sould keep and repaint the Bushtec trailer or just plan on getting a new one.

I am curious if any have had experience with:

Trading in a Bike with Trailer?
Selling a Bike with trailer?
Re-painting a trailer?
Other??

Bushtec did a great job with the color match on this trailer and it kills me to think about re-painting it but I have to be reasonable.

That is a nice outfit and would be a shame to repaint the trailer, if it was mine I would keep the pair and if I had to sell I would sell as an package deal.

I agree leaving them as a pair if selling outright.  If trading in I do not believe you will get the value out of the trailer at a dealership.  Just my opinion.

You will get hardly any value for a trade in and that is IF the dealer will take the trailer. And unless you have access to another Bushtec, I would keep and re-paint coz they are pricey...

If it was me, and I wanted to do a private party sale, I'd list what I'd take for the bike alone, then both the bike and matching trailer as a package.  If the bike sold and not the trailer, you could then either ebay it alone for what you need to get out of it in order to satisfy your needs to buy another new one, or a really nice used one in a basic color to paint.  And if you didn't get any bites on the trailer alone, keep it and paint it.

Since they are already such a nice pair, it would be a shame to break them up.

Hey Bill.  I remember when you first got that trailer and stopped in Memphis and I got a peek at it when we met you for dinner and a few    at B. B. King's Blues Club.  Nice looking rig then and still is.

Probably best if you can sell as a matched pair yourself but of course that lowers your pool of prospective buyers since some may not want the trailer.  And the dealer will have the same issue and may not give you full value because it may sit waiting on the right buyer.  My dealer had his personal '11 CVO Rio Red RG Ultra with a color matched Am Legend trailer which he rode for a few months and then put on the sales floor.  Sat on his floor for several months before he sold it.

After the Juy 4th week I will probably be putting them both up for sale in the classifieds section.  I have accepted a work assignment that will not allow me to do much if any riding through the rest of the year so I really don't see a need to delay it.  I will still have the SED for dinner/bar runs but no more long trips for a while.

I had one painted a few years back......OK, more than a few years.  Several painters wanted to just mask it off and paint it as it set.  I went with a custom painter that removed the box from the chassis, all the weather strip, lights, bumper, etc. and painted it the right way.  It's important with fiberglass as it'll move, bend and twist and if you paint it the right way (each piece individually), much less chance of cracking.

Bushtec wants $1800 to color match a CVO on top of the cost of the trailer.  I am having a Skunk color matched and the biggest challenge is getting the correct color match.  It would be a lot easier if the MOCO would just release the colors!  . I think you are on the right track selling together and if that doesn't work then reprint.  I bought my Turbo II from Craiglist and will have about $2800 in it when it is done.  I will post pics. when done!
