2007 CVO Head Gasket
« on: June 29, 2012, 09:47:00 AM »

Just bought a 2007 Road King CVO 110.Noticed a film of oil between the rear cylinder and head  after my last ride.Seems to be coming from the head gasket. After checking this site I see that it seemed to be a common issue.Talked to HD dealer and told me that there was a campaign (#0906) on this issue. They could do nothing for me being that the campaign expired 2 years ago, other than having them replace the gaskets at $700 plus in labor. After reading many of the threads, not sure if that is the solution being that they may leak again.Any ideas on what a sure cure might be ? Also was thinking about upgrading the motor since I have to tear down the top end anyway.Looking for some advice on a good solid upgrade

If you have a good relationship with this dealer contact Harley-Davidson Customer Service (414) 343-4056 tell them your problem and they might be able to authorize a "Good Will" repair for you. That is if it hasn't already had the "campaign" done previously.

Just got off the phone with HD customer service .They said the bike is out of warranty as is the campaign so guess I have to pay them $700 for a failed head gasket. Thanks for the info it was worth a try...just wondering how long it will take for the next hg to fail.Gonna look into upgrading just have to get some ideas on what to use

That's a lot of money to simply replace head gaskets...  Any reputable indy's around you?

Personally, I'd install Cometic head gaskets.  It's what I used when I repaired mine back in 08...

Make sure if you use Harley gaskets to get the latest revision. I had mine replaced 6 different times, and the
dealer was not using the current release. They had 3 revisions in 2007

Not only head gasket failures but in some cases the early 110" motors had liner slipage in the barrel, if this is the case with yours the barrels will need to be replaced. The drag speacialties part number for the Cometic gaskets is 0934-0002.
