Better ride? The wife is unhappy.
« on: August 09, 2006, 12:56:58 PM »

I need some advice on seats and suspension. I bought a Mustang from JR and its hard as a rock, even after 6K miles. It's a goner! The wife isnt too happy with the ride and seat. I bought her a gel pad in Sturgis and she said it made a difference. Now, I think I'll go for the King tour pack with wraparound backpad. I saw one in Sturgis that even had the speakers in back. I didnt get to talk with the guy though. I really would like to keep the pumpkin but may have to go for an 07 after all, gotta make her happy. Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Maybe It would make a difference to have it unlowered too!

I think a new 07 red and black Ultra would solve all your worries. ;)

Change your shocks! I have progressive 440's on my Pumkin and love the ride. I also have a Road King seat on mine.

If you do a search of older therads the 440's are talked about in depth.

I lost the shocks and went w/ the 440s. Best move I've made. Put on a HD Road King pillow look seat. Vast improvement for the long haul. Bought a full size tour pak, War Dept. likes it cause it feels better and we can haul more crap. [smiley=cherry.gif]

Try the Sundowner seat for the FLHX.   We put it on our pumpkin and the wife is happy with it provided I bought the extra tall backrest vs. the one in the catalog it is available in the 06 supplement catalog and is about 6 inches taller and requires a new back plate the the passenger seat rest if you do not have a tour pak that is :)

I think you will really like the sundowner seat.

You may also want to check into Russell Day-Long seats. When my ol' lady started complaining, I made her start riding her own and sure did make us both happier!   ;)

I went to 440's and a Saddleman gel seat (rider, passenger, tour pack back rest) and its a night and day difference.  [smiley=banana.gif]

Save $200 and buy the progressive 412's instead of the 440's they are every bit as good!!! I have the comfort stitch seat in the garage for two up riding, it's ugly but makes my bride very happy!!! [smiley=pumpkin.gif]

I love this answer. Like a lot of life's problems, if you throw enough money at it, you can solve it.  ;D ;D ;D ;D

440's and a Corbin Dual Tour Heated seat did it for me, everybodies happy

You could also try putting more air in your shocks, Your owners manual is wrong. Pump them up to about 40 lbs and see how it feels, I read about this on this site after I bought the 440's

I was thinking of keeping the 04 as my Draggin Bagger, and getting the 07 for touring with the better half. That would make us both/me really happy!

Sounds like a winner of an idea!  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]    ;D
