My Seeg has a bad shake.
« on: July 02, 2012, 07:31:40 PM »

Bike runs fine except for 1200 rpm. New primary chain and tensioner went in and will shake you off the bike at 1200. Any ideas?  Throttle body sensor ?  I'm just guessing here.  I might have to put it on a machine maybe?   Thanks.   Stuart.  :nixweiss:

If I remember correctly you had the same shake prior to changing out the primary chain and tensioner, right?  I can't remember if you recently changed the front motor mount, but regardless of whether you did or not, you may want to check it again.  Stock motor mounts on the '05 and earlier bikes usually didn't last all that long before the rubber split.  The new mounts are urethane and hold up longer, but they will transmit more vibration than the old soft rubber mounts.

Stu, Jerry brings up a valid point.  I remember in 04 and 05 some of the guys here had motor mounts go with relatively low miles.  And if my memory serves me right (can't count on that), some had to replace them more than once.

In my case, just once, but it was two motor mounts.  Once one goes, the other breaks relatively easy. :nixweiss:

Stuart-

GRC and JCZ are right on it-front motor mount is the most likely cause.

Would I feel it at only 1200 rpm.   And at no other speed?   I don't get one at all.

I don't remember where it was at, but I do remember it was a very narrow margin in the power band that it was really noticable.

Stu...at those lower RPM's, the motor is wanting to jump around more, so I'd definitely check the motor mounts.

I replaced the front motor mount today and it's a lot better.  Not where it should be.  But much better.   We had an Alloy Arts laying around ant it seem to be softer.  So that did make a difference.  I talked to the guy that tuned the bike originally with the tts.   He asked me when I changed the fuel filter last..  Wires and plugs.   Bike has 74 k.  Fuel filter was replaces at 42k.   Wires are the stock ones that came on the bike,,, plugs about a year ago.   I'd say 8-9k miles ago.    So I'm going to replace all 3 there.     Then we talked about ethanol in the gas.   So he will look at the tune last. I hope my injectors are ok.     I'll do all this next week.   Thanks for the help you guys.   I apprciate it lots.    Stuart.

My seeg went thru the bad vibes too. I replaced the front althought it didnt look too bad. Still was driving me crazy so itook off the rear swingarm and found the rear mounts totally shot and a bad bushing on the shaft. It was a pretty easy fix,not to much $$ and another site member loaned me the alignment tool for reassembly. Back to normal :bananarock:

no spy   had it out all day saturday..   i put new wires, plus and a new fuel filter in..   still a liitle rough at about 1200 ..  im convinced its the new motor mount.. I wish i kept the origimal one i pulled out...  It would have been back in by now... its ok...im hoping the new one will break in.. the one we just tries isnt a harley...  i think its an after market,,,  it is kind of softer,,   maybe it just need a few oil changes...  that will make any new mount better..  ::)
