natram, i grind a groove from the outer end to as close to  the main drive gear as you can with out hitting
the threads. then take a fat/thick chaise to the groove, hit it as hard as you can without hitting the fuel tank and
after a few hits the race will crack. then it will pull off with pliers.

just did one Friday, will take some pictures and post tomorrow night. hope thats soon enough.   axil

If the race has walked inboard at all, or if it was installed too deeply to begin with (not uncommon), the horseshoe part of the puller won't get inside the race anyway.  If so you'll have to use a rotary grinder of some kind to cut it back on the inboard edge just to get the puller behind it.

Have done it the way Axil describes ^ .  Always worked.  For whatever tool whoring reason might be a part of it I'm more comfortable using the puller.  If no one closer has one and if you choose not to cut, grind and beat I can mail my puller back to use.

What's wrong with the inner race?  Hard to tell by the pictures.  The inner and outer bearings are sold seperately.  Do they have to be replaced as a set?

Let us know how you get it off.

A dremel tool with a small cutoff wheel works best for cutting the groove in the race.

Neal, the ole part is gone but this may help. If you cut in an angle you can cut a little more of the race.
If you cut too deep no big deal just file the edge on the main shaft

Then use a wide chisel and you'll see it crack in the area that wasn't ground.   axil
