V&H 2-into-2's
« on: July 02, 2012, 11:12:32 PM »

Has anyone heard them on a 110?  Wanting to change stuff up on my bike like the look but not sure if they might not just be to loud for longer trips.

Not sure what bike you are going to put them on, and what your overall goal is.  I do like the way they look too, but I wouldn't put them on a bagger.

My friend has them on his 103 CVO Fatboy, and they are louder than my high outputs on my 110 Streetglide.  He has talked about replacing them because all the sound is right there on one side, and reflects back up off the road.

I believe that it's louder for him and his passenger than anyone following behind.  I have no problem cruising behind him.

I will not follow him through a dirt parking lot, or a dusty area that's for sure - he kicks up a cloud of dust and dirt a 1/4 mile wide.

They sound like a redneck pickup truck to me. I don't know how they can make something that sounds that bad.

Here in Aus we call those pipes the big racket for the noise they make. They raise the dust as mentioned above.
They are not good down low for torque but make excellent power up top.
Over here every second softail has them.

I had them on a 110 Springer. Too loud for my taste, and I like loud. I now have some Bassani's on my Conv and love them. Just the right amount of sound for me. Loud, but not obnoxious and quiet while underway.

I have a set of Vance & Hines Dresser Duals on my work bench in the garage.

First and foremost you must understand I'm running the Vance & Hines Hi-Output Slipons. These are extremely free flowing!!!!!!

With the Dresser Duals the setup was just way too loud. Especially on my right ear becuase the rear cylinder pipe that flows out the right side is significantly shorter than the other.

For now I cut the cat out of my stock header (2-1-2) and it made a hude difference. Much quieter.

For me, the problem is that 2-1-2's don't have that distinctive Harley thump, thump, thump. They tend to sound more like a V-8 sports car, more rumbly if you know what I mean.

When I get a few extra bucks I'm going to buy different slipons and go back to the true duals.

Good Luck! There are Thousands of Options and Zillions of Opinions. ;D
