Down for a few days...
« on: July 03, 2012, 02:35:39 PM »

I was on my way to work last week & a lady pulled out in front of me & no time to brake.I luckily just fractured my sternum & bruised from head to toe.I have a new respect for EMS folks as I was trapped for 45 minutes upside down in the middle of a busy hwy.

Good Luck.

Dang!  Great to hear you weren't hurt more seriously.  Best wishes for quick healing.  To look at the condition of the truck it appears the design worked well, keeping you from more serious injury.  How was the other driver and vehicle?

Glad you came away with fairly minor injuries. The 'sacrificial' cage looks like it did it's job.

Ouch..

When I had my bike/deer encounter in '05, among other injuries,  I separated my shoulder and fractured my sternum.  My sternum bothered me the longest during my recovery.  (My doctor told me I must have titanium collarbones...  I would have been much better off breaking my collarbone vs. injuring both my shoulder and sternum.)  Something to be aware of...  My impact with the ground was so severe that I also bruised my lungs from the sudden deceleration impact...  My symptoms (shortness of breath) didn't show up for a several days after the accident.

yes I have shortness of breath & lungs feel like there on fire when I over do it! The other driver walked away as I primarily hit her in her b pillar & rear door.

Hopefully you've made your doctor aware of your symptoms...  I lost a fair amount of lung capacity while injured, and improved greatly with physical therapy...

Sorry to read about your accident.  Glad to hear you are on the mend!  The truck can be replaced!  This is one time when the cage did it's job.  Glad you weren't on your bike when this happened!  I want to wish you a complete and speedy recovery.

Ouch! Of all my broken bones in my life,  broken ribs were the worst by far.  Hope your sternum heals quickly, and hurts less than my broken ribs did.  Very glad it wasn't worse.

Sorry about your truck, too.  Get better soon!

I had a V8 rental 5.0 & my ecoboost v6 will pull & run circles around it! The v6 has more hp & tq as it was very evident when pulling my cabin cruiser to dry storage over the weekend.
