New Passing Light Brackets
« on: July 23, 2004, 09:43:01 PM »

I was thinking of adding passing lights to my 03 SERK and wanted to know if anyone has used the new brackets that Harley has available that don't use a cross bar on the front under the headlight.  Or has anyone mounted any lights on the crash bar? If so, what kind and how did you like them?  Also is a special wiring adapter need to connect the extra lights to the electrical system?  I don't really like the looks of passing lights on my bike but I've seen other bikes with the extra lights and they are much more visible than a singe light.

I installed the Mirage lights . The bike harness is ready for lights The switch even works. To keep install simple I just did the lamps and not directionals. Dealer has AMP connectors with pins available so you don't have to splice. I did not like the stock wire set-up coming out of the lamp itself. I thought the grey wire would chafe so I added a little poly tubing. The casting is trick ,nice chrome and has hidden holes for the wires. I did need to make longer studs to compensate for the castings thickness. I used some stainless bolts from Home Depot and cut the lenght to fit.  I went for the smoked passing lamps. Recently seen a screaming eagle dresser with the whole enchilada installed looked good to me . I will move directionals at the same I install a set of Harley heated grips. The extra light at night is great.

Jerry:   What are the Mirage lights?  Are they a Harley item? Or another vendor?  Do you happen to have a pic of your bike?
Thanks,
Steve

I installed the new Harley light kit in 1.5 hours. It comes with all the hardware needed to move turn signals below passing lamps, needed if you ever want to put a fairing on. I dont like the way they have you wire the lights. They go off when you turn on your high beam. I'm sure i can rewire to fix this. Good luck
