Garmin 665 bluetooth phone setup
« on: July 06, 2012, 11:56:09 AM »

I have a question, does anyone here have the 665 zumo and use the bluetooth function with there bikes intercom and headsets? I have a buddy and his works great sitting still but when the bike is moving it cuts his mike off and all he can do is hear the other person. He has to stop to have a conversation.

I downloaded the manual for the zumo 665. Exactly how do you turn off the mic on the unit. I'm not reading about a mic..???

Uh....I thought you had to have a dongle to feed the phone through the bike's intercom/microphone.

Sitting still, he may be talking through the GPS mic.

Perhaps I am misunderstanding...

Could be, I just assumed he had it wired up.

I am thinking that you are correct, he has the zumo 665 connected into the radios aux port. I am thinking that is only for internal feed from the gps. So in theory, the bikes intercom can't communicate back into the gps's bluetooth, thus he must be using the gps internal mic, and once moving the wind noise makes it not usable.
They have a Zumo interface module listed in the parts book. I am thinking this is what must be used to talk thru the bikes intercom headset back to the bluetooth phone set up.
I'm just curious if anyone else has tackled this issue and actually use the garmin and a phone thru the bikes intercom system. I want to be able to answer calls while riding.

IF he has a dongle, such as the HDBoom installed, when he makes or recieves a call click on the phone icon on right side of screen, click on call options, click on mute microphone.

:pepper:Got my Bomm yesterday and installed it last night. At first I didn't think it was working. We figured out that a cordless phone will mess with a bluetooth setup. LOL
I jumped on the bike and called several different buddy's and nobody believed I was riding down the highway at speed. So I give the HDBomm.com a Grade A! ANd a big thanks to you guys who hooked me up with Jim @ hdBomm.com
