Ummmm, Where do you live?
You are right - not an answer that is acceptable.
Seems to be a trend lately - the customer is at fault for all bike ails.

I empathize with you buddy.... been there and it is not fun!

Stay the course, try to calmly work your way up the chain, or try another dealer who is willing to work with you.

JMHO.............been there and got a pile of t-shirts.   :'( :-/

If it's an environment issue then they shouldn't be selling them in that enviroment. ::) I bet they had no problem taking your money when the sale was made. >:(

If the chrome is actually 'peeling' or 'flaking off' as opposed to 'pitting' or other-wise looking corroded, then it's defective prior to being exposed to a environmental corrosion (salt air mist)......I've seen highly polished scootors get surface rust on everything when left uncovered all night at a motel by the sea....comes off easily if w/in one day or so......after that, it's got a 'toe-hold' and only get worse even w/o the salt air.

Stay on them. It's just more BS. I have to say I have been lucky with The MOCO and my Dealer.

I wouldnt stand for it.  On both the SEEG's I have had 04 / 05 I had at least one side replaced on both bikes with NO Hassles.   The chroming is done piss poorly and they are just trying to push you off.   Be diplomatic, but stay on them they usually cave when you wont let them off the hook, I mean come on environmental ... if it was environmental would all your chrome be peeling at the same time as its all exposed to the same air.    Your going to have to fight them with logic and persistence /sorry.

If you in my area Seminole Harley has been great with Chrome issues.   Rims, Mirrors, Floor Boards never an issue, just sorry for the inconvience and they order them.

Best of luck,

I live in NJ (high humidity and lots of salt in the air) and the dealer replaced both my rims and my floorboards for faulty chrome, the rims had large sections that flaked off and the running boards had little bubbles everywhere.  [smiley=pumpkin.gif]

They didn't even try to deny the peeling chrome syndrome for the 04 and 05 SEEGs when I talked to the CVO Reps at Rapid City last week.

From the U.S. Geological Survey, "Your source for science you can use" http://www.usgs.gov/

50% of the U.S. population lives within 50 miles of the coast; about 80% within 200 miles.

http://woodshole.er.usgs.gov/project-pages/newyork/

New York, with a population of approximately 17 million, is the sixth largest city in the world and is the most populated coastal region of the United States.

I guess the MoCo didn't take the demographics into account when they opened up all the dealers in the NY, NJ CT area

I live less than 1/2 mile from the Atlantic Ocean. Yeaterday had the 11th set of shifters. and a new rod installed. Also had the 5th set of mirrors installed on the bike. My issue with customer service is you should not have sold me the bike in the first place if you were not going to warranty it.
Oh yea hav the 25th set of front turn signal lenses replaced, these they did not cover,,Yet!!
