Hinge Pins for 79211-08A - Premium Tour-Pak Hinges
« on: July 08, 2012, 06:52:20 AM »

I have the 79211-08A Premium Tour-Pak Hinges on my Full Tour-Pak.
Yesterday one of the hinge pins managed to vibrate out.
Frequently I can find the HD Installation pdf and it will have the P/Ns, in this case no Installation pdf.

Does anyone know if there is a Part Number for the "Hinge Pins?"

Thanks

The PDF file will be an attachment to this post you can download Dennis.  But there's no part number shown for the pin by itself.  Sorry.

Thank You Don
I will look for some small rod or nail that I can cut to fit. It should do the trick.
Thinking of a way to prevent this again, considering tapping in a bird shot pellet in each end with a center punch to prevent it from coming out.

I think I have a cure for the vibration/rattle.

The older TP Mounting system has the hard pvc mounts on the bike and the typical chrome slots on the rack that attaches.
The newer ones have all metal mounts on the bike and pvc "Bushing" on the top rack. I know, strange name for the part based on it's usage.
62682-09 - bushing-09
Anyway I ordered the new bushings and will put those on the fwd top mounting rack. That should take the slop out of the mount. If I have to shave the pvc a wee bit, so be it.

Just a thought....  Make sure you use something made of stainless to replace the pin, you wouldnt want it to rust the hinge and make a mess!

Don as I look at the pdf, it appeas to me that there are no "Honge Pin Holes" in the HD premieum Hinges. No way for the pins to come out.
Probably why no hinge pins listed in parts list.
I believe the mounting holes are all the same for OEM and Premieum.

I may just buy the Premieum hinges and never worry about the pins coming out again.
