Fairing Pouch
« on: July 09, 2012, 04:05:34 PM »

I went into the Charleston Dealership sunday looking for a windshield pouch.  I had looked through the forums and found an old part number for a 2 pocket pouch that worked.

I asked about this 2 pocket pouch and was told it was no longer available.  I explained that I was looking for one that would work on a CVO with the fairing pad and GPS installed.

He said he had something that he thought would work. It clearly states that it will not work with the Fairing dash pad but we both thought it would.  I do not live in Chalreston but took a chance.  I got home today and here is what I found.

I really liked that the 3rd bag snaps off. Not only does it snap off it comes with 3 snap heads for cover the snaps.
It was very easy to install and fits well with the stock windshield.

Could you possibly post a picture showing the front of the pouches?  I also have the dash pad with the Garmin and can't find anything that fit's without obscuring my view. This pic shows my dash set up.

It does take us some real-estate on the windshield about 2-3 inches.  For reference this is the 10 inch windshield.  Im 6'4" so see over it is not really a problem.

I installed the older 2 pocket version, but it does taking some modding to work right with the clearance.  I drilled out the rivets on the bottom, and make new holds through the meter support further out away from the windshield lips about 3/16" from the edge. Then I redrilled new wholes in the bottom of the pockets closer to the back, and between the two, this provided enough clearance with the dahs pad to fit perfectly.

Interesting...The only picture that will download for me is the picture showing the front of your fairing.  :nixweiss:

I'm 5' 6" and have a 9" Freedom Shield.  I do look thru the windshield but need the wind block protection due to hardware in my neck from a blown disk.  I wish I could find something like maybe a smaller single pouch that I could just Velcro to my dash pad without taking up so much real estate on my windshield.  ??? :nixweiss:

CODTEN, it looks great!

I was Looking at that exact one just last night and thought it was perfect until I saw the disclaimer that said it wouldn't work with the dash pad.  I am 6' 4" also so I imagine I won't have any visibility issues either.  Just to confirm, it fit without any modifications?

Correct no modification (other than snapping off the 3rd bag).  The install is pretty straight forward. You remove the windshield bolts and put in some very small spacers and put the bolts back in, leave them loose. Then you install the bags and then the windshield.  Tighten it all up and your done.

I'm pretty happy with it.

I ordered that single pouch and when I sat it on top of the dash, it also obstructed to much of my view when sitting on the motorcycle.   :-\. It's a nice pouch, I had no trouble selling it, but I'm looking for something that has probably never been made yet.  ;).  I'm just gonna have to be creative and make my own.  :bulb: :idea3:
