Retired 8 years ago at 50, now every day is saturday. I ride over to the HD shop and talk to other guys for an hour or so after sleeping in a bit, wipe down the scoot, do a honey do or two. I might even take a little nap before watching a ball game on MLB.TV. I have some rental properties to watch over now and again.

Just look around for a small business to mess with like a laundry mat or a sno cone stand, something that doesn't take a lot of time and effort and makes a little cash to supplement your fun time.

Awesome posts!

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and congratulations on your careers and retirements :2vrolijk_21:

I felt a little sheepish after starting the thread, getting too personal, not sure.   Truth is I was on my third beer at the time, when I normally have just one.   I was celebrating a round of golf, in which after two months of trying,  I may have cured my snap hook.  From the reading your posts, you folks sound much smarter than I,  in that there is no mention of golf....

I had a great ride today on the scoot while others were working...

Thanks again

I retired from the Navy after 20 years at 38 years old.  It's not near enough money to live on, so I went to work as a Maintenance Team Leader at a car parts plant, I was tired of that in five years, the 65 hour work weeks were killing me, with only two weeks off a year.

So in 2006 I went to work off shore as and electronics tech drilling for oil.  In the states I work 21 days on 21 days off.  Over seas I work 28 on and 28 off.

I love all the time off.  It's like I am retired half the year.  Thing is it seems like I have even less time than I did working 65 hours a week.  I have so much to do in my time off.

I can hardly wait until I can really retire in 15 more years.

Been retired for 2 years now. Was hard at first but I found my niche. I am now chief of quality control of the Lowcountry Moonshine Co. Doesn't pay much, but benefits are great.

Retired Feb 2010.  Worked as a Construction Inspector for the State of OHIO.  Have to admit I Love everything
about it.  Every night is Friday night and every morning is Saturday morning.  Not having to deal with
contractors bull chit on their belief of short cuts and most of all not having to deal with traffic and waking up
to demands.  The Wife has been nothing but supportive with my time off.  Keep busy around the house am
rebuilding the deck as we speak.  Dont know how I had time to work  :huepfenlol2:  Love going for rides were ever
and when ever.  Best to all that have posted.

Plan on retiring in two years but will pick up a fun retirement job without strees and e-mail. I plan on teaching helicopter pilots 3 days a week, that can hardly count as work as much fun as it is!!

Going to pull the plug next November, that will give me 48 years in the tool and die/special machine and stamping business.  Not that I don't still enjoy the challenge but enough is enough.  Besides the money is damn good.

Forgot to add we also own a storage faciltiy in Tipp City Ohio, not a huge one just managable from a long distance and brings in a steady income too.  Looking to buy a home in Florida and move there when I retire.  One issue, wife is 11 years younger and we will have to buy health insurance for her out of whatever income we will have or perhaps our president will give it to her  :huepfenlol2:

Get the Kleenex ready! Well, just kidding a little? I got retired Jan 26 of this year! Lost my last job of 13 years at the age of 55. Fourth guy over 50 that was let go! New management of about 2 years had taken over. ( The owners Nephew ) I was a pre salesman for a beer distributer. They gave my job to a 23 year old kid that was my delivery driver. One of them buddy deals I guess. Still retired  :-\ but have a application in to a company that sound promising! I wish I could stay off work but SS is about 6 years off now! Been riding almost ever morning and doing the honey do's too. Eight acres in the country to take care of too! Enjoy your retirement guys!! Enjoy Life and say a prayer for me to get this new job!!

Ya, 16 months, like Thanksgiving of 13.  But I'm not counting either!
