TTS warning?
« on: July 11, 2012, 07:17:46 PM »

maybe someone can clue me in as I can't find the proper help file!
I get this message when trying to load a MT8 file into my bike.
It MAY be because I already have a MT7 file in there???
Bike is a 2010 bagger.

TIA

What is the calibration file you currently have in the bike?

Thanks Steve:

Custom dyno tuned started with a canned MT7, don't remember which one.
I think we started with a TQ205.002 or something like that.

BTW: ran the updater just to make sure the laptop had the latest, it does!

You have a 205 calibration in your bike now and you're trying to install a 009/44 calibration. The TTS will not allow you to install an incorrect map unlike some tuners out there. Look for a 205 MT8 cal.

Thanks for the help, I'm just not sure how to load a 009/44 MT8 calibration (for my 2010 DBW bike) as I now have a MT7 (for a DBW 2009 bike).
Would I have to go back to the stock MTE, then start from the beginning to get to the 009 MT8 map?
Using the TTS am I "locked out" using any MT8 map? and only the MT7 versions?
Just confused as I am only on my first cup of coffee!
TIA

You have something going on that's not normal. Mastertune will not allow you to put the wrong calibration into the wrong bike. So if you have a 2010 bike and it has a 2010 VIN in the ECM you would not have been allowed to put a 205 calibration into it to start with. 2010's use a different O2 sensor and different operating voltages for the O2 system and thats is why we do not allow you to install the wrong software. Things need to be right if you want them to work as expected.

Not sure what's going on there either.
Bike runs pretty good with what I have now.
Question: Can I reload the stock MTE cal. THEN start over with a MT8 map?

You should be able to switch from a MT8 and back to a MT7 all day long. Go our and use the save/Restore feature and save what is currently in the ECM. Then send me that file so I can see what is going on.

I had a similar problem with my 2011.5 SEUC. I purchased a stage I kit from Fullsac which came with an ETA009.MT7 map. It loaded fine and the bike ran well with a little gas milage improvement. After taking the bike in for it's 5000 service the milage dropped approx. 5 mpg. I called Steve G and discussed it with him. He had no idea what the dealer could have done but he had a newer MT8 map that he sent me to see if it helped. I loaded the MT8 map with no problem but found my mileage was even worse so I tried to reload the MT7 map. I got an error, don't remember just what it said but I ended up reloading the ORIGINAL MTE file. I was then able to reload the MT7 file and my mileage is back to where it was when I first did the upgrade. Bike is now do it's 10000 mile service just prior to a run to Sturgis and I'm hoping it doesn't get adjusted again.

Thanks for the info. I was leaning in that direction, but, will wait for Steve C. to get back to me.
My bike runs great, and I really don't want to mess it up.
I just wanted to try a friends MT8 file that HE loves! Just to compare.

We have chased the issue down to trying to put a 2011 calibration into a 2010 bike. So I've asked that he try and get a 2010 file for his 2010 bike. We are going to take a look at the software as we allow the 2010 files into the 2011 bike.

Well as it turns out we never checked 2011 calibrations into a 2010 bike so the software does not allow that to go in, it is working just as it's suppose too. Just not how he was hoping.

Am I reading this right?
A cal made for a 2011 (2012) DBW bike will not load into a 2010 bike?
Is there something I should be looking at in the 099 or 44 cals?

I'm still a little confused, I though the 2010-2012 ecm's were basically the same animal.
 :nixweiss:

I have no idea why I'm even worried about all this, we did a club ride last night and the bike performed perfect with the cal. I now have!
Why would I even consider change?

I don't know if it's anything "hard" in the ECM that's different, but I'm pretty sure the O2 sensor grounds float further above 0VDC in the '11s than in the '10s.  That could sure cause some anomalies in the way it runs if some of the electronics are different inside the ECM and the programming is looking for different voltages than it'd be seeing from the sensors.
