I have an 2009 non-CVO Street Glide, 96 cubic inch, no motor mods other than Stage One (tuner, Rineharts), 15k miles. Wasn't ready to give it up when I (suddenly) got a '12 CVO Road Glide last August.
Could go on and on about the Street Glide, or either bike. Love the bat wing, the stereo, the Progressive shocks, the sound of the Rineharts, how the bike just fits like favorite jeans. I like how the bike is understated in appearance. It is versatile on trips. This winter I dressed the Street Glide up some as it was looking a little ordinary next to the CVO. I added chrome forks, an LED headlight, and H-D Roulette wheels in black ice. Not as fast as the CVO, don't care, love to ride either bike!
I would look for a 2009 or later, having the newer frame. You should be able to find one in the $16K range. Or since its getting late in the model year, you might be surprised how much the dealers may discount a new one. Lots of Street Glides out there, I think for good reason.
Good luck with your decisions.
